Any ideas of a place to go for custom cage work? Possibly looking to get something fabbed up.
Thanks,
Kris

Thanks, Kris woky 07-16-2008, 03:40 PM Kirk Racing out in Mount Olive, PAECO in Hoover (they only build cages, don't install) or Speedsouth in Pelham. I'd be inclined to start with Kirk, though. E34nication 07-16-2008, 03:42 PM good deal. thanks. cipher982 07-16-2008, 09:57 PM You getting a cage for the 540? :confused E34nication 07-16-2008, 11:43 PM yea... that's the plan. just a half cage so i can safely 5 points with aftermarket seats while still being able to safely drive the car to the track/autocrosses. cipher982 07-17-2008, 02:40 AM Interesting. I would like to get some harnesses for the miata. It already has a roll-bar, I just need to get some harness adapters for it. mozzeralla 07-17-2008, 06:03 AM SpeedSouth did mine. E34nication 07-17-2008, 10:33 AM if you don't mind me asking how much did speedsouth charge? Trying to come up with a figure for what it's going to run me total with seats, harnesses etc as I would prefer do it at one time. It's going to be a few weeks before I have the time to go down to one of these places. REDRAGN53 07-17-2008, 10:17 PM Kirk Racing out in Mount Olive, PAECO in Hoover (they only build cages, don't install) or Speedsouth in Pelham. I'd be inclined to start with Kirk, though. Incorrect about install...Mark (runs Kirk Racing) does install cages at his shop. Kirk did the cage in my Honda Challenge Racer...only way to go IMHO especially if you are local...it was a 3 hour tow to get mine there but worth every $$$. Just remember you get what you pay for and always check references! E34nication 07-17-2008, 10:20 PM i'm just curious as to exactly what kind of cost i'm going to be looking at because i don't want to go out there and have someone take a look at the vehicle when I don't have any coin in the bank. I see the mass produced units that go for 5-600 and then i see the custom cages that used to come through my old shop in florida that were in the 2-3k range. miklm 08-01-2008, 12:03 AM Kirk quoted me "between 2000 - 2500" for a SPEC E36 legal cage. I thought that was very reasonable. On the low end, I bought a used Kirk 4-point E36 roll bar as a temporary measure a couple of years ago for $200 or 250. So anywhere between those two numbers, or even higher if you want something super trick. E34nication 08-01-2008, 12:37 AM i want something similar to the e36 roll bar... i'll call him when I get my bonus check. |
