I feel that the front suspension is slightly soft especailly now the summer has come. My car has a slightly modified front end where it tends to hit the ground very often.
I am thinking to change front springs and shocks and would like oem. The suspension is a M-TECH setup.
Also is this an extremely difficult job?
Kind regards
Prit

Not to difficult, You can do it in a hour or two but your car should never bottom out/Hit the ground! Are your shocks good? My front is 3.5inches from the ground and never bottoms out, Could i see a pic of your car? Do you have the "M-Tech Low Slung" Front end suspension?

Prit,
The job itself isn't difficult, just takes some effort on your part. I would say that for an M-tech set up (if you're refering to the kind of set up Ed Raether has done) it shouldn't be THAT soft. It should be almost reactive, in the sense that it's comfortable but still firm. How old are your springs and shocks, what are they?

Hello The car is 98 build and the shocks are original i believe.
It has the original factory M-tech suspension.

Gorgeous beast. It sounds like your shocks are toast. Like 8eights's car, my car is also 3.5" in the front... Your car should not bottom out!

Prit, I do not believe you need new springs but if you're going to replace the shocks you might as well look into it. I'd definitely say that your shocks are just tired. Lucky for you, in terms of things that can go wrong, this is a very easy fix :). I'd go bilstein for sure, with the Comfort setting!
Best Wishes,

Prit!
Is it possible to see a picture of the front Shock tower with the protective pop off plastic hat removed? It just pulls off, Just wanna be sure all the parts are there, Should'nt bottom out, Does it float when you contiually press on the front end? When you hit a good bump or pothole, Does that side wheel seem like it's dribbiling/Bouncing to much? Looks and sits Good! Need to check if it's shocks along but you wannna make sure that large washer is under the final Tightening nut. on Both sides of the shocks! They can cause plenty of problems if not there. Misleading and dangerous too.

Hi Team
many thanks for the advice, i also think th shocks are a bit weak. However if I drive the car for long distances then the suspension gets firmer.
8eights I will try to take of the cover tonight and have a look. I have compared the ride hieght with others and must admit it is lower than most 8s out there!
