After washing your car jump on the freeway and go as fast as you can to get all the water off???

I haven't done this in a while. Use a good shammy after the wash, drive normal, then shammy again to hit any streaks. That's how dad did it...

That sounds like the safer way, the last time i did this was at dusk and i hit 120Mph at some point i got the attention of a cop???
When did he notice me? when he saw my lights were not on? or when he saw me doing 120? so he followed me to the off ramp and as i noticed him i pulled into a drive way i always use for the final dryoff, he drove by.When i was done i fliped on my lights and drove on by as he was waiting for me to drive by with my headlights off.
WHOOOOHOOOO

You're in the East Bay? I'm right across the bridge in San Mateo. Any pictures of your car?

Hello

I usually go for a quick drive just around town, just to dry up the water. I even do this after it has rained as moisture still creeps under the car cover.

You have to be careful when doing this for two reasons:

1. Like Smokum did, people usaully speed, which isn't safe at all

2. Road dirt and debris can get on the car, and if you wipe the car off you can possibly scratch the paint.

Just my 2 cents. Speaking of which, it's a beautiful day outside, think I'll go and wash the car:)

Hello

well said Toy, ethically correct about speed which is important and sure you do pic up some debris if your not carefull.

Not Me. I hook up a flat nozzle on my air compressor and blow the water off and low PSi.

I gotta get an air compressor. I keep using up little aerosol duster cans that are supposed to be for my cameras & their respective lenses. Post E31 washing, I find that the FTPs & front fascia in general holds a lot of hidden residual water. The same goes for the side mirrors and the trunklights/rear bumper.

after I wash my 8,

I hit 405 North, exit Long Beach Airport, go under the freeway, through the tunnel and back onto the 405 South, and exit John Wayne Airport (oc)

if im feeling good, ill race back north to LBC for a second run!

this usually gets the 850ci about 90% dry.....

I wont admit my freeway speeds online.

This is what I use and it works wonders-(Doesn't mean that I don't take the beast out for a spin afterwards, just means that I don't have to :)

I had a buddy that used to saran wrap the mirrors, just enough to seal the opening (not the whole mirror) when he washed it. He kinda had this anal retentive thing about the drip marks that flow out from there after a wash...:confused
