This fuse took me 45 minutes to locate on my Birthday in 105 Heat, I went from nice and clean to Sweaty and clean in 10 minutes trying to get out of Limp mode in the Desert!:shine I left the ignition in the start position because i remember wiggiling some wires and getting the fuel pumps to come back on one day, Didn't know that was the beginning of my problems! Anywoo, Bmw hid a fuse that lays flat on a small piece of fiberglass, It's also riveted to the fiberglass on both ends? Then it's hidden, Pretty good to in some Shrink rap close to the Positive battery terminal about 4 inches down on one of the smaller pos cables. on the US Passenger side, I had know idea it was there until i accidently bumped into it today, I sqeezed it a few times and got everthing to work, Put some vice Grips on it to keep all together and made home where i replaced it with a Fosgate fuse and holder, The OEM design was primitive and to sneaky! Was it a way to make money off of the original owners these cars?/The rich?? I can't see any reason to hide a fuse like that.

(((This happen to anyone else?)))

Pics of the old fuse and new one below.

Yeah, happy bidet!

I think that's their idea of a fusible link, or a slow-blow (sounds dirty doesn't it?) fuse. Another example of "Fine German Engineering"....:rolleyes

Now, what circuit does that power?

well, it sure doesn't prevent your car from catching fire, that's for sure!

That's NOT funny!!!--)

The car was smoking from both ends though when i pulled over, It smelled like raw fuel? I was looking for a nice lawn to pull on and turn on the sprinklers, It was scary!

No sure exactly, But it cuts fuel pumps and spark! My problems is how it's riveted together to where it's not a simple replacement without a rivet gun and hidden inside shrink rap, It's rapped so good, You would think 2 wires are joined together in there, Kinda sneaky!

I wonder if the M60/62 has this hidden fuse. I'm gonna look.

Cheers

Look for 2 wires entering some Shrink rap about 4 inches before they connect to the passenger battery positive terminal.

I'm gonna change the Bi%@h, just 'cause! I'm sure not going to wait for it to bite my @$$ somewhere on the road, and hope that I remember the fix...
Thanks again for the pics & writeup. BTW, what amp rating/wattage did you install?

Your welcome M.Rad.! I replaced it with a 60amp and had no problems since, I keep a spare 80amp just in case, It will now be a 1 minutes swap instead of being stranded somewhere, The way the origial is designed was not so good, It flexes a little and that could of caused the long term breakage, Now there's no flex in the fuse itself, So if it breaks now, It will have to be because it's a problem somewhere.
