View Full Version : Glove Box: 2 questions with stupid simple answers
Auraraptor 07-12-2008, 01:01 AM I know, these are simple questions, but realize my 8 is the only one I have ever really "explored" up close so this stuff comes up:
1. Later cars with dual front airbags lost the upper glove box correct? I'm always so jealous when I see others with their neat twin glove boxes. *sigh*
2. Did the lower/proper glove box come from the factory with a glove box flashlight of sorts inside it? Looking in my glovebox, it appears something was disconnected on the most medial aspect of the inner surface (ie the inner wall closest to the driver)
3. Not really a question, but damn it, I am missing one of the lenses for the two lights that sit on the inner face of the truck lid. This is more a frustration vent. :shifty
TxGR8White 07-12-2008, 01:14 AM Yes to #2. The flashlight is white (the black ones don't work, different size)

8eights 07-12-2008, 01:39 AM Sorry Tx, Can't hold it in! How's the car coming? Our we do for updates soon??--))

Thanks! Is the white one E31 specific? or was it used on another model as well?
8eights 07-12-2008, 02:12 AM Yes, It's from another model.
revtor 07-12-2008, 03:59 AM 1. Later cars with dual front airbags lost the upper glove box correct? I'm always so jealous when I see others with their neat twin glove boxes. *sigh*Correct. Up to 1992 there was no passenger airbag, so you could use both compartments of the glove box. A loss on the later cars? Maybe, but I think the passenger will appreciate the airbag just in case something happens - although I hope that will never be necessary.
3. Not really a question, but damn it, I am missing one of the lenses for the two lights that sit on the inner face of the truck lid. This is more a frustration vent. :shiftyAsk the people with parts cars.

Quite true. When I have passengers, I appreciate the added safety.
Ask the people with parts cars. That is my plan. I just felt like venting a little. :)

The thing to remember is this: The airbag itself will be over 15 years old and personally, I don't trust one with that age. That is the reason BMW recommends replacing the airbag at regular intervals.

Taking a weekend off - going boating.
The intakes are on their way back to me for final paint and mirror polishing of the logo and ribs.
The sport seats are on my workbench and will be stripped and colordyed to match the rest of the interior. New EURO headlight glass, adjusters, and rear sunshade are also being prepped for install, but will resume that work next week.

ditto on the black light. got one to prove it too...lol
funky, i got the same countertops in my kitchen :)
bRIZZAd 07-12-2008, 11:42 AM This is a great alternative to the Flashlight in the glovebox. A 12v power adapter.. converts the flashlight charger into a 12v lighter socket for other devices (i.e: radar, etc)
