I've been looking at bmwtechinfo for about an hour now and despite the instructions and illustrations I cannot figure out how to remove my e-brake handle (to replace it) and how to remove the auto-shifter... it says just lift up on it when it's in park but I'm getting no where.

Any and all help is extremely appreciated!

pull REAL hard and they will come off. watch out for the recoil in your pull!

The autoshifter is not budging, the e-brake took some coaxing.

do I press the shift button in? do I twist? Seriously, I'm unable to get the thing to even move.

That's because you have to PULL REAL HARD! Open the sunroof, Grab it with two hands, Tightly! Then pull, I mean PULL upwards to try and get a little play in it, It'll come off and you want break the shifter, Watch your head and hands though. When it moves a little, Your done!--)

I for one definately want to see it. My shifter is crap right now, but I will have to tighten down the base before I go yanking on it. That whole sucker would come right out!!
