hehe, still grinning from this one.

I came up on a green 70's something muscle car. I don't really know what it was (looked like a 69 Camaro, but it wasn't) I think it might have been a Dodge Charger.

Guy looks over smuggly at my Dakar 95 ///M3.
I'm waiting for the light which seems to take forever. Look back to see if no cops. I didn't know if the guy wanted to go or not.

Light turns green and we both take off casually fast, not dropping the clutch. But I'm in 1st neck and neck with him til about 2500-2750 rpms and he starts to gas it. I slip the clutch back in and hit about 3500rpms, and actually didn't get a good pick up as I got a little wheel hop and then got traction. He tried to get going but right from my launch his window was a little behind mine. I hit 2nd and really took off and got a couple of car lengths by 3rd gear. at 80 mphs and hitting 6000 rpms he's like 6 car lenghts back. I then slowed and the guy kept speeding up, I just slowed down to legal speed and watched him in my side mirror with a huge grin on my face. He didn't look as he went past and kept going... he musta been doing about 90. As there are usually cops way up ahead, I used him as my rabbit and followed at 80mphs at a safe distance.

hehehe

By the way, finally had a chance to take my car to the track a few weeks ago. I put in a friends Jim Conforti chip. I ran 14.2-14.3 consistently and my best run was 13.9@101 (a fluke?)

i was reading your signature, when my jaw dropped. did i misread, or do you have a chipped 325 AND a modded M3?! or is it a 325 with an M3 engine swap? either way, you got a tight setup, and hitting low 14's will become my reality soon enough :D
it's nice to hear form you again(bimmer.org),and be safe bro.

Was that car tennis ball green w/ the AAR stripes down the flanks? If so its a Dodge Challenger/Charger. Sorry can't remember which one.

Sure, with the rest of the mods you got in there, I'm sure 13.9 is possible. Good run, dude!

KLEEN KUT - yes I have 2 bimmers. a 1993 325i and a 1995 ///M3. The 325i is chipped. the ///M is modified.

bmwmnut - No the car wasn't tennis ball green, it was a dark green. the back was sorta dovetailed up and was squared, I don't think it was a firebird (and it didn't have that long hood like the challenger so I don't know what it was. I've been looking all over the net trying to figure out what it was so I could find out what HP it had). I didn't really look at the car that much, until I saw the guy wanting to go and only seen him from the side mirror after that.

Rel44 M3 - also it was a hot muggy night. I think my internal temp on the OBD said it was about 82-84 that night. So I'm thinking that time could be better.

Now you got me thinkin'. Maybe a Mach 1 or a Javelin/AMX? I know I saw a dark hunter green Javelin tooling around.

Lopaka, what times were you running when you were stock? I've never been to a track so I'd be happy if I could do 14.2. :(

With a few mods you'll be in the low 13s. My friends 97m3/4 is an auto and runs 13.10. Dinan tranny chip, Shark injector, bigger injectors and gears.

Whoa, he does 13.1 with an auto WITHOUT a Dinan supercharger?

Hey, that's it. I found it at an AMX/Javelin web page. I was looking for AMC boomerange or roadrunner or something (didn't remember what it was). I thought it might be an AMC. BTW, do you know what HP/torque/ 1/4 times it runs?

Here is a pic I found.

Hey BMWNut, you have to remember that we are at sea level so times will vary. 13.1 is awesome especially for an auto, but most of that is probably the gearing. Also, I should say that I found out yesterday, that my timing on my car was retarded by the knock sensor. I've been having trouble with it, and changed the #5 knock, and just found out late yesterday that the #2's knock polarity was probably out of whack and retarding my timing. So, my times probably will get better, as I've been driving with a retarded car (not the driver). =)

Oh as far as stock 1/4 mile times Rel44 M3, I've never dragged the car before, so I dunno. But I think the book says about 14.6-14.7

Once you get that knock sensor taken care of you'll be running 13s consistently. Yes, you are correct, gears do make a difference. You've probably seen my friends car around it's a black 4 door w/ chrome 18" Schnitzer, a loud ass exhaust and a Bowtie Auto stickers on the car.

BTW, a friend ran his 2001 M5 an clocked a 14.2 while another friend ran a 14.6 in his 2001 GS430.

Sorry, don't know much about the AMX/Javelin. I think they had 390 ci motors w/ @ 325 hp. Later model Javelin SST had 401 ci motors.
