Then they find out the hard way that they don't drive like a little front wheel drive POS. Same thing as the dude that ran off the end of a runway with his new M5. More right foot than sense :( And big brass balls to go with the leaden foot. Quite a few of my contemporaries in the '50s and '60s did the same thing and some even survived :) Like me :D So it isn't anything new but there seem to be a lot more of them now. TxGR8White 07-10-2008, 12:21 AM Agreed, too many posers getting in on the cheap end only to get frustrated and disappointed. The belief is that if they can just barely afford the cheap 8-POS, the "krylon-restore" won't be that bad, or would it??? Koizumi 07-10-2008, 12:22 AM I saw somebody today with a customized aqua-green 840 with aqua-green rims--yeah, frickin' aqua green & chrome rims! I really did feel like pulling along side him to share my disdain for the blasphemous basterdizing he'd done to his car! Come on dude! There are less & less E31's out there for sure. And there are more & more cheeseballs getting they're hands on them :( I know, I know, different strokes... And if it makes the owner happy to paint their car leopard print, so be it... To me it just seemed like the aquagreen 840 was a sick joke that everybody was laughing at (and yes, other car drivers were perplexed looking at the puke green car). And if it makes the owner happy to paint their car leopard print, so be it... ...just the difference between the boys and the men I guess.... Koizumi 07-10-2008, 12:29 AM 'Tis true Steffen. And I ain't a player hater, so to speak. It just makes me sad. I look at the E31 as a classic car; which I presume most people do not think it is. Staehling 07-10-2008, 12:50 AM That's the tough thing to watch about the bottom of a depreciation curve.... ...though I got mine for a great J-Spec deal, so I really appreciate this kind of opportunity to get into a dream car for peanuts. Toy72 07-10-2008, 07:09 AM I wish I had my camera on me a few days ago. I stopped at an autostrada gas station and noticed this pink car. It looked familiar to me, so I checked it out. Someone painted a 67 Ferrari 275 PINK. HOT PINK at that. I realize with close to 5 billion people on the planet that not everyone will see things the same way, but damn... TerryY 07-10-2008, 10:36 AM The first 850 I looked at 5 1/2 years ago was Laguna green originally and had been color changed to Probe purple. Every chip on the bumper and nose had Laguna showing thru that was shiner than the purple on top :( only the top half of the engine compartment was painted and the labels all had a little Laguna stripe around them. So the bad taste and poor workmanship phenomena isn't all that new either--priced of the bottom feeder 850's were at about $20k then. moonslook 07-10-2008, 06:40 PM Guys, how much should i pay for a 93 850 with 54k to be able to resell it and make some money.I was doing my homework checking the auction list for tomorrow and got shocked seein an 8ser there.....:D opinions please... JsnChristianson 07-10-2008, 06:44 PM It's a shame to see that happen to such a beautiful vehicle. I guess that kind of behavior makes a well kept example like yours that much more valuable though? 8eights 07-10-2008, 07:41 PM Guys, how much should i pay for a 93 850 with 54k to be able to resell it and make some money.I was doing my homework checking the auction list for tomorrow and got shocked seein an 8ser there.....:D opinions please...Salvage or Clean title? Body and interior look ok? If salvage and looks presentable you can get it from a Dealer Auction for 1 to 2K Clean title same auction 2 to 5K, Shouldn't be to much competition on these cars right now, I seen one go for $900 at Copart in Bakerfield, Ca. A month ago, Driveable!!! I ended up buying some trunk interior out of the same car last Saturday, LOL! |
