Wokke, given your expertise in this area, there is something both 1chiban and I would like to ask/request you.
Both of us wanted a custom gauge cluster background trim, however the member we were working with disappeared.
Namely, I want the design to be the same as stock for the mph, but M series style for the inner kmph ring, as well as the light grey M background. Also, no 55mph dot. Please see this post for a a better description of what I mean: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=12855587&postcount=28
I am going to ask someone to photoshop exactly what I am looking for if that description remains a bit esoteric.
I am of course willing to pay $$ for this. In theory, I would love to be able to just ship you my cluster with an international money order (of an amount you feel is appropriate) packed with it, get this background, a proper blue light for the highbeams, and of course the coolant warning light added.
(this the complete thread, just for reference: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=941821)
For comparison, here is the US spec gauge cluster I am discussing:
