View Full Version : Need your guys help on a decision
wokke 07-07-2008, 04:12 AM Hi all,
I recently traded in a set of pretty beaten up SCHMIDT rims as shown in the pics below.
They are already sandblasted and ready for powder coating and I have to decide on the colour.
Mine do not have chromed centres though and now I have a hard time to decide on the colour. The lips are stainless steel which has a slightly darker shine than alloy.
silver with chromed screws
matte black with chromed screws
glossy black with chromed screws
matte black with TiNi plated (gold coloured) screws
glossy black with TiNi plated (gold coloured) screws
something totally different from the above
Thanks for your help upfront. :thanks:

8eights 07-07-2008, 05:23 AM Black or silver centers would look nice IMO! Black centers with chrome lip and screws looks killer. That's a lot of wheel on that car, Upping the Discs and Calipers would also be fitting, Wish it was mines, Even the Steering wheel is on the correct side...)

they are 18" so there is some space for serious rotors and callipers.

wokke 07-18-2008, 10:59 AM decision made - and screws can easily be replaced with chrome ones.

Cheers!
wokke 07-18-2008, 05:11 PM I bet they'd look pretty sharp on an E31.
Mark850 07-18-2008, 07:40 PM I bet they'd look pretty sharp on an E31.You're right they would look nice..The big question is ,are they for sale and how much$$$????:D

Yes, they are for sale. For a brief moment I considered using them myself on my E24 but I stick with my AC Schnitzer. Price for the set is Euro 1.500,- plus shipping.
1chiban 07-19-2008, 05:07 AM come on guys, support Wolf's Trip-back-to-the-states fund!
8eights 07-19-2008, 02:58 PM Nice wheel, Since the wheel has chrome behind the screws, Might look good with black screws too.
Koizumi 07-19-2008, 05:14 PM Yeah, I agree with 8eights... Go for black screws, that will set it off real nice.
Koizumi 07-19-2008, 05:15 PM Hey Wolf, are your E24's ACS staggered?
wokke 07-19-2008, 05:42 PM Hey Wolf, are your E24's ACS staggered?
Yes, they are:
9x17, offset 6mm front with 235/45/17
11x17, offset 8mm rear with 275/40/17
I run only staggered wheels on all my bimmers.
BTW, black screws for the SCHMIDT Revolution rims would certainly look nice, but they are outrageously expensive (roughly $3,- each and we're talking 160 screws)
8eights 07-19-2008, 05:55 PM Can't you powerdercoat them?
wokke 07-19-2008, 06:03 PM Can't you powerdercoat them?
Powdercoat chrome plated screws? No way, won't last and look super shitty. What I can get is black chromed screws of the same quality as the chromed or Titanium plated ones.

8eights 07-19-2008, 06:24 PM Who said put powedercoat on top of chrome???
wokke 07-19-2008, 07:05 PM Who said put powedercoat on top of chrome???
so what exactly do you mean? Powder coat what kind of screw?
8eights 07-19-2008, 07:36 PM Can't you remove the Gold plating and reuse them? I thought it would be cost effective since there $3.00 each for new ones.

I would end up at an even higher price.
840rod 07-20-2008, 06:30 AM I like the gold screws... gives it nice detail ... IMO
Yo,
