I'm about to take delivery of my M3 E93 next week, and I wanted to know if anyone has purchased a 2008 M3 (any of the models) for under MSRP. IF you did, how much were you able to get them to knock off, and how did you do it?

I'm going to be very frank about it, and ask them to knock off 4K. If they don't knock off at least 3K, I'll walk out the door (whether or not I'll go back is another story). Right now they have 3 M3s sitting on the lot and they've been there for a month. I'm sure they don't want a fourth, especially one that was built to order.

The dealerships get to enjoy having long wait-lists of people happy to pay MSRP during roaring economies, so it's only fair that they get some negotiation when buyers are scarce.

Please post any helpful info here (price paid, buying and negotiating experience, etc.)

Thanks.

if you order a car, and want a quick allocation of m-dct, you're looking at $2-3K off, for 6MT sitting on a lot, you might get another $1K or so. search some of the other forums, they're full of dealer's names. I got mine from Tom at P&W in Pittsburgh, doing performance delivery so I didn't care what state I bought it from.

Yep, mine's a manual transmission, built to order. So, you think around 3-4K off?

Tangfish start talking to your sales guy about your expectation over the phone, I have gone through many cars and you should begin your conversations testing the limits. "I hope you guys are going to give me a good deal on this M3"! "I was thinking from all my research that it should be around....$$ off MSRP. Guage the response: friendly , silence then glib or alouf or hostile...tells you if you even want to do business with that dealer...if goes south..talk directly to the General Manager..."You love the car and the dealership but here is what I think is a fair price ect...." I dont care who it is and I have bought cars from many MB, BMW, Porsche, Audi ect...do your research and be confident that you are being fair and expect them to be fair also.

Good Luck

Call the salesman up, tell him you are still interested in the car, but the market is weak and you will only pay $xx,xxx. They know well what the market is and don't want the car sitting on the lot unsold. Just be prepared to walk away if they won't deal.

No offense, but it sounds like you have never negotiated for anything in your life. Guess what? EVERYTHING is negotiable. Now sounds like a good time for you to start learning this.
