Can anyone suggest a way to mount a camera to film the track, and if possible, the instrument cluster as well without the camera swaying/moving all over the place?

TIA

P.S. -- This is for an E46 330i (4-door).

Unfortunately the original SPEEDMOUNT website that sold this well made mount was shutdown a long time ago, and now it looks like this domain name is for sale.

you can also ghetto rig a broomstick and drill some holes for the headrest poles. it works quite well for beating your opponents over the head too :mdrbig

Look under Camcorder Mounts, only $39.00. I just got mine but haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

Check out my camera mount. It is incredibly sturdy and a very reasonable price. I can also customize these to your liking.

I still don't see how you haven't had problems with scratching, considering it clamps onto the headrest posts instead of around them...

I made a mount similar to Keith's. To avoid scratching the headrest posts I attached rubber strips to the areas that contact the posts. This probably helps keep the mount from slipping too.

You didn't make the last autox did you? Previous plans or what?

Matt,

I have had the mount on and off of my headrest posts probably 20 times. I will take closeups of my headrest posts to show there is no damage whatsoever.

I hated to miss the last autox, but I was in Yosemite climbing with my brother. If it wasn't Yosemite and it wasn't so hard to get a camp site reservation, I would have been there.

I should make the July 13th autox though. Hope to see you there.

The reason it does not scratch the posts is because it does not move. The headrest posts are incredibly strong as they are meant to stop your head in a collision.

As I said the camera mount has been on and off my car probably 20 times. I have always mounted it in just about the same place so if it was going to chip or scratch I I am sure it would have by now.

Sorry for the inconvenience but I will have plenty of them on the 25th.
