I'm thinking of having someone do my swap insted of doing it my self because of free time problems. I have a 98 328i with a Factory M52. I am in the process of collecting parts for an s52. The engine is a 99 s52 from a z3m. The motor will be a direct swap and I will have all the parts. Anyone on here with recommendations or a shop of their own. Feel free to PM a rough estimate of what it would cost. I'm still in a toss up about this as I hate paying for something to be done that I could do, but I'm not experienced with BMWs and have next to no time and I'd like it done (not in a rush though). Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Forgot, I'm in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. I prefer somewhere fairly close, no further then Greensboro or so preferably.

Too bad you want that close, we could do it at our shop. Good luck on the search!

Doesn't have to be that close. I'm open to suggestions if pricing is acceptable and shop quality and reputation is good. We have an enclosed trailer and I could pay my dad to take it anywhere really.

Motorsport Connections in W-S is a very nice shop, also have one in Moorsville.

They are very reputable and I have brought my car there before, check out their website.

Just called them. They seem very professional. They are "on the list"

I will be after I have it pulled. I think it just needs the head rebuilt. I caught it before it made any bad noises. I thought I had it before it hurt anything but turned out to not be so.

They are very professional and John the Manager is very very knowledgeable, I talk with him a great deal to pick his brain.

What is "cheap"? I've almost decided to do the swap on my own because of the price of most of these quotes...

Well since 328ijunkie can't read that I already posted, he is my business partner here in Clemson. If all the parts are brought in with the car, you are looking at around $600-$700 for the complete swap.

I just wanted to let you know that Max does amazing work and you can trust him with your car. I take my car to him whenever I have a problem and he has never let me down. :D
