View Full Version : How screwed would someone be if ...
Zubehor 06-26-2008, 09:07 PM Without going into details at this time if someone gets ticketed for:
1 - Speeding 43/35
2 - No insurance
3 - Failure to yield pedestrian right of way
All separate tickets but within a 2-3 hour period of time. Any idea of the fees and points associated with these tickets? Any personal experience dealing with this?
LongBeachM3 06-26-2008, 09:10 PM no insurance itself is pretty bad
Rtistik 06-26-2008, 09:11 PM Is the car covered and just failed to have proof, or is there lack of coverage?
Zubehor 06-26-2008, 09:28 PM I wasn't driving my car and I'm not 100% on the insurance coverage. What are the penalties in either case with or without valid insurance?
I have valid insurance on my car if that matters.
SeanDub 06-26-2008, 09:32 PM 3 tickets in 3 hours.

Or so it should be
TC535i 06-26-2008, 09:33 PM not having insurance is pretty gay. I got a ticket for not having my registration, and it's basically a fix-it... even if you DONT HAVE INSURANCE, you just have to get it, and go in and show them, from what I understand

Are you serious or just trying to be a smart-ass?
LongBeachM3 06-26-2008, 09:36 PM I'm not sure what you mean. I was pulled over for speeding and didn't have proof of insurance. I just told the cop that I do have coverage. He just let me go luckily. Is this similar to your case?
polo12345 06-26-2008, 09:38 PM ok lucky you have I have the answer to ur question. Ok so you have your own car right? It's insured right? so just bring ur own insurance papers into court and ur fine. I know this because I got pulled over with a car that wasn't insured yet since I just bought it (used) and when I went to court I showed them my insurance papers from my other car and I was fine. :alright
Get proof of insurance and the judge will most likely throw that ticket out.
Plead not guilty to the rest and hope the cop doesnt show up. There is a good chance that he will miss the court date, but if he shows up just go pay the fine.
jonjon0nline 06-26-2008, 09:42 PM If you have insurance on any vehicle I wouldn't worry too much. 43 in a 35 really isn't that bad and #3 doesn't seem too serious.
I do have to ask though... how the fuck do you get pulled over 3 times in that short amount of time!? :rofl Must've not been your day.
SeanDub 06-26-2008, 09:44 PM Are you serious or just trying to be a smart-ass?
Hahahaha, yes I'm serious. I hope they put you away for life cuz you suck at driving/ cop spotting.
polo12345 06-26-2008, 09:46 PM Hahahaha, yes I'm serious. I hope they put you away for life cuz you suck at driving/ cop spotting.
awww harsh hahaha :lol

Yes I have my own insurance on my car. This was my g/f car she just bought it last week and only paid the registration. It still needs a smog and insurance. I was working on it so I can smog it later day and she was getting the insurance ready also today.
If you have insurance on any vehicle I wouldn't worry too much. 43 in a 35 really isn't that bad and #3 doesn't seem too serious.
#3 doesn’t sound too serious but what if I told you the person I supposedly ran over was the cop that radared me earlier in the day for the speeding ticket.
I do have to ask though... how the fuck do you get pulled over 3 times in that short amount of time!? :rofl Must've not been your day.
You have no idea I left out my time spent handcuffed and almost thrown in jail.
Ok here is the story.
My g/f bought a new car, it still needs a smog and so I was outside working on it. In my car cloths all dirty. I was getting ready to change the oil when I decided to take it for a spin around the block to warm up the oil. Merged with traffic and out of nowhere this cop appears between 2 parked cars with a radar gun in his hand. The street was pretty busy and everyone going the same speed. I could not go any faster or slower then the flow of traffic. 2 sec later a cop car comes down the street with the lights on and pulls me over out of the 10-15 other cars all going the same speed. It must’ve been the fact there’s no license plate on the car only the temporary sticker I don’t know or maybe just the luck of the draw.
I knew I was screwed because I left my license in my car so I’m trying to convince the cop lady that pulled me over to let me drive/walk/run/crawl back home a few blocks away to get my license. Meanwhile the cop with the radar gun shows up and he’s an ass and tells her to book me. Ok I get handcuffed and thrown in the cop car. He guy wanted to take me to jail but the cop lady convinced him to wait an hour until I have someone come to the station with my driver license. Fast forward a few hours I get out with a ticket for speeding and no insurance. I’m driving home going 15 in a 35 just to be extra safe and out of nowhere this cop car lights up behind me. WTF now? Another cop lady comes out telling me I almost ran over her lieutenant (same guy that radared me before and wanted to throw me in jail for having no license on me). Its BS he was not in the crosswalk and I was going well below the speed limit but didn’t argue with her. She didnt even see what happened. She said considering what happen earlier she will try to give me a warning and called the cop I supposedly almost ran over. He told her to write me another ticket. So that’s my story for today.
adept 06-26-2008, 10:28 PM Oh wow... what street were you on?
Zubehor 06-26-2008, 10:32 PM First incident happened on Fulton, second on Geary as I was leaving the station.
LAWLence 06-26-2008, 10:50 PM Damn bro, tough times.

:rofl
Definitely not your day.
randytt 06-26-2008, 11:05 PM i think i might have u beat....
1. speeding 80 in a 65 ~$16x.xx
2. urinating in public ~$9xx.xx
3. running a red light (camera ticket) ~$???.??
didnt all happen in one day, but it was all within a two month period. i am fighting the speeding and red light tickets, but the urinating was enough to set me back a bit. you might want to see if you can fight the tickets or at least reduced. good luck!
Zubehor 06-26-2008, 11:28 PM $900 for taking a piss? damn man
how do you find out how much each ticket costs? I'm trying to look it online but i cant seem to find it.
M3x415 06-26-2008, 11:33 PM :urtheman
holy sh*t man.
i will pray for you buddy.
you might have to get that MUNI schedule out.
Zubehor 06-26-2008, 11:57 PM Well in theory since my drivers license is not from CA I don't think it affects me as much but I would still like to take care of this and not let it escalate to something much worse.
randytt 06-27-2008, 12:20 AM u'll probably get the ticket in the mail in a week or two telling how much u owe.
Zubehor 06-27-2008, 12:25 AM oh thats another thing they wrote my wrong address so ill doubt ill get anything in the mail
jonjon0nline 06-27-2008, 01:53 AM oh thats another thing they wrote my wrong address so ill doubt ill get anything in the mail
Then you're going to get a warrant for not appearing in court :rofl
M3x415 06-27-2008, 01:57 AM oh thats another thing they wrote my wrong address so ill doubt ill get anything in the mail
didn't the cop that gave the ticket(s) ask you if this was you valid address on your L's and if you were still living there? well they should have.
well you better get that taken care of. for all your offense i don't think the
judge will let that slide if you needed to go to court.
G/L and i hope things go well for you man.
Phiberglass 06-27-2008, 02:07 AM Definitely not your day is right.
Zubehor 06-27-2008, 02:16 AM Then you're going to get a warrant for not appearing in court :rofl
With my luck I wouldn't be surprised.
didn't the cop that gave the ticket(s) ask you if this was you valid address on your L's and if you were still living there? well they should have.

Nope never asked about my address and didn't even ask me about the insurance. She just assumed i didn't have it with me which may or may not have been correct but an assumption nonetheless.
Well I hope to take care of the insurance thing tomorrow and then fight the other two. Hopefully I will at least win one, but we shall see.
adept 06-27-2008, 04:41 AM You dont want to get into more trouble for not paying for your ticket. When I got a speeding ticket not too long ago they sent me a letter in the mail with a website that I could pay it off at online. Look that up.
stanksbeamen 06-27-2008, 08:54 AM Sorry to hear about all this...Hope you get it all sorted out.

I think 15 over is going to be more than that.
stupenal 06-27-2008, 01:16 PM Failure to yield to a pedestrian can be BIG $$$...as in $300-400 I think.
Not sure on the exact amount, but I know its definitely a lot higher than the speeding ticket. My 50 in a 35 was $160 down here in socal (back in feb) fwiw.
socerace 06-27-2008, 03:27 PM go to court,, really 43 in a 35?? you know that its legally not speeding until u go over 7mh right ? id fight that, as long as u have actual insurance and just not with u at the time, if u bring the proof to court it will get thrown out. as for the 3rd one, not too sure but come on the fisrt ticket will be liek 150with school...
Zubehor 06-27-2008, 03:45 PM I wasn't even doing 43mph. When I got pulled over I was told "I stopped you because my supervisor clocked you at 41-42 mph" I have no idea why she wrote 43 on the ticket.
The insurance thing is a little complicated. One I have insurance on my car thats fine and legit from 2 months ago. Two since we just bought the car I was driving when i was stopped my g/f was getting a policy as I was working on the car/getting pulled over. Its dated the same day as the ticket I don't know how that will look in court.
MasterM3 06-27-2008, 05:44 PM BS?
Zubehor 06-27-2008, 05:46 PM BS about what? the speed or the insurance thing? really thats how both happened.
randytt 06-27-2008, 10:13 PM Sorry to hear about all this...Hope you get it all sorted out.
I think 15 over is going to be more than that.
for the most part it is, i just have to send in my written declaration to the courts, actually got the approval for written appeal today. and yes it was $169.00, it would be $206.00 if i were to do traffic school + traffic school cost, but my bail was $169. i thought it was going to be at least $200, but i never got a ticket before until the past two months, so what do i know....
FYI, it is an extra $300 if you miss your court date, and they can suspend your L's.

You realize paying the bail amount without doing traffic school puts a point on your license, right?
SAL's M3 06-30-2008, 02:14 PM Well the insurance one its not going to matter if you got the insurance that day or not. Just take the proof to the court. And fight the other two. But dont take your chances in court do Trial By Written Declaration. I have done it for a ticket in SF for no left turn between 10am and 7pm and i won. But do this, from the date written to appear on your ticket call the court 10-14days before, the sooner the better, and ask for an extension (your entitled to one). Then when they set the next date call in again 10-14 days before and say you cant make and you want them to send you the papers for trial by declaration. Then fill that out from your side of the story. Most likely they Cop isnt going to turn his in and they will get dismissed. Especially in SF bc those cops have too much paperwork and BS to handle. But to come to court they get paid FAT so i wouldnt take my chances. I have beaten 6 ticekts this way, my mom beat one like this, and my 2 friends cobined another 4 tickets. So it works just make sure you arent late with your dates
randytt 06-30-2008, 04:17 PM You realize paying the bail amount without doing traffic school puts a point on your license, right?
yes i know. but i was not speeding. im not going to take the fault for something i was not doing. if i was actually doing 80 in a 65, i would just do traffic school, and say fuck it, i got out safe. but i was not speeding at all. if i have to im going to take this all the way even if i have to drive to sb.
oh yea i just got another ticket...... no front plate. gayyyyys :mad
STAGGERED M3 07-02-2008, 04:10 PM Bro sounds like they are f***ing with you and want to give you a hard time! Its prob all bs
