Will a set of these look ridiculous without a BBK? In general, i've always thought very OPEN wheel designs looked better with something nice to fill them in from behind...

What does everyone think? Feel free to post pictures too....

Check out how nice these look with the UUC BBK, pics from their site....

I've always thought that those are some of the nicest wheels out. The BBK really does look awesome behind there but I think with or without it the rims would look great on an E36.

As beautiful as these wheels are, they must be a pain to clean, especially when dirt and grime accumulate in those hard to reach rivets.

BTW, there seem to be two types of SSR GT3 wheels, and they are sizes 18x8.5, 18x9.5 or 19x8.5, 19x9.5

Those rims do look nice, but without a BBK behind them I would go with something else, like BBS LMs. Then again, even if I had a BBK I would still go with the BBS wheels.

nah! Those rims are tight regardless of what you have behind them.

Yeah, pretty/heavy rims.
M3 OE brake discs are rather LARGE. The single pot calipers are not exactly huge, but nothing to be ashamed of either, especially if you paint them. I don't think you need a BBK to run "open" spoke rims on an M3. Now, 19's on a 318i will make things look a bit odd . . .

Are those 17s or 18s?

The GT1 on the hellrot looks like 17"

Here's a side profile of mine. 18"X8.5F with 225/40, 18"X9.5 R with 255/35. 3mm spacer in front. They are not hard to clean, but I am pretty much a clean freak autopian. If you get silver finish, the finish is pretty bright, your attention is drawn to the wheel, not the brakes, although, BBK would be nice, but if you aren't on the track a lot and is looks that you are concern with, why not get upgraded rotors. From 10ft away, your attention is definitely not on the brakes, so I don't think it will be weird looking.

NICE!!! Do you have a angled side shot, like along the body from front to back or back to front, so we can see the lips on them bad boys? They are most impressive.....

Yep, the GT1's on my Helrot M3 are 17" (8 in front, 9 in back).

One reason I really like the GT1's is that they seem to look bigger than they are. I don't like 18" wheels due to cost of the wheel and tire but the 17" GT1's look as good as 18"'s to me :)

The best part is that they clear the Brembo's with no spacers so I have two sets, one for street and one for track.

SSR really makes excellent wheels and all of their models look great on the M3 (lots of people around here have the Competitions).

Love the lip on the GT3's

The 18" GT3's are a little portly at 25lbs! 17" GT1's are only 18lbs and 18"ers are 19lbs. Another reason I prefer the GT1's :)

Hey Guys,

I rarely visit the boards. Someone here toldl me that there was a thread talking about my car.

The tire size is 235/35/18 fronts 8.5 rims and 255/35/18 rears on 9.5.

I have a custom coil over set on my car and have 20 mm spacers up front. This also makes the rims up front look like they match rear depth.

Seats are Sparco Milano Grey Alcantera.
Full CF interior and alot of Custom Stuff that I can't go into yet.

Thanks again
Mike

Clinton M3, did you need to roll the rear to fit the 18 x 9.5 in back? Do you have any rear close ups?? Car looks CRAZY with those wheels.

I have H&R Coils. If I get a set of SSR GT3 rims...would I have to put on spacers?

Those look great. I am really interested in getting the 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 setup too. Especially if you can fit 255 rubber in back, PHAT!!! What are the required offsets for this setup?

UUCMIKE
06-11-2003, 02:50 PM
Im not sure of the exact offset. Call Tire Rack and speak to
Aaron at X 395

If you have coilovers, you have to to do trial and error until you find the right size. Start with 10-15-20 remember to get the right size bolts to when you get spacers.
