Not sure how many people know this, but I've relocated to NYC!

I'm working in NYC right now, and my car is in route from northern, CA.

To keep this FI related, anyone know any places in NYC where I can service the car?

Dave, welcome to the lovely northeast! You trade the rain for a couple months of dreary snow, but you leave all the commie lefties behind :D Paul e or Greg should have some recommendations for shops, they're localish to you.

The cool thing is my car is tuned for 91 octane gas, so if I get some timing advance and some basic tuning I should be able to gain some more hp!!!

Even if I don't get the car retuned.... the 93/94 octane gas here should make my setup extra safe (oh boy, I should say that.... now watch something bad will happen..... I better knock on some wood real fast!)

Well, to be a proper NYC vehicle, you'll need to get one of those "The Club" things - Yikes! Guess I'll have to break the news to DSR that they lost a customer. Best of luck to you. And please remember to send back some proper NY pizza and pastrami sandwiches!

Yea DAve, Welcome! Dont worry, we have plenty of commie lefties here too! Maybe I should swap with you and move out to Cal....The weather here SUCKS..... As for your octane, if you happen to find a place that you like to work with to do your timing (and potentiall afr too) make sure you let me know. I think all Dinan cars are also tuned for 91 octane. Maybe a blessing in disguise, with my 11 psi! I think you may find there are more shops on the left coast than around NYC to deal with this stuff. Theres a BMW chapter of the CCA in the area that sponsors an autox series out on long island each year, and some other events. I live in Westchester which is about 25 mi north of the city. Although I used to work in the city many years ago, I havent had any cars serviced there. There ARE some good bmw dealers in the area, and some decent bmw independants as well. There are no what I would call 'tuners' in the local area. Id say the closest is probably ERT in DElaware, but so far as I know, they dont work on OBDII cars. In DC you have some RMS familiar shops. And of course, consider that your that much closer to the tuning mecca of the east coast AA. Its only about a thousand miles or more! :--)

Well, Welcome, anyway...

Dave,

Welcome to the East is a Beast Coast. I just posted a Bay Area dyno war/meet @ DynoSpot Racing in the California Regional board. Dick is a good guy @ DynoSpot.

I'm working on a dynowar for the NY/NJ area.

Welcome to east coast, Dave!!!
When there is a big east coast gathering, maybe we get a chance to hook up sometime. ;)
Did you finally get to break into 300 rwhp before you came to NYC?

I think I may be close!

With the dinan exhaust and fan delete mod. I'm thinking I've gained about 4-5%..... My last dyno run (<B>before</b> the exhaust, fan delete) was about 276rwhp reving to 6500RPM..... So before I left CA I should have been around 285ish...

with the 93/94 octane gas out here, and the mods I could be close! Actually, is it true that for every 1 degree advance in timing you should net around 10-15hp? If that's the case, I could be over 300rwhp with proper tuning.....

Not bad for a old 2.8...... :-)

I also think Osh increase the revs to 6800... so I may be at or near 300rwhp now..... gotta find a dyno in/near NYC....

Cool!!!
I hope you will enjoy NYC. I've gone there many times for vacation but I can't never imagine myself living there though...Not a big city boy, I guess. ;)

James (M3 turbo), Russ (AA SC), and I are going to do a dyno with A/F in near future, maybe you can join if it's over the weekend?

Check east coast regional forums! :D
