Good Morning, I am attempting to adjust the valves on my neighbor's E46 M3, but the bolts under the decorative valva cover are vexing me. I can't seem to get a standard 10MM socket into the well to get at the bolt. I've seen alot of threads stating this and that, but never one talking about difficulties getting the bolts out. I am using a very standard set of Sears/Craftsman sockets.

The well has a max Outside Diameter of .58 inches. Does anyone have any information on this? Manufacturer of a socket that worked, etc??? Much appreciated. Please reply to rfc2307@gmail.com.

Hmmm. Your just getting started!! Go to a Sears and look at all the different sockets available. I'm sure one has an OD that is small enough, otherwise the engine cover would have never been put on!

Hmmm are you experienced in adjusting valves? And have the valve adjustment kit?

Here's a link to a DIY...
