Hey guys.. i had this is the e46 forum and thought id get more responses here. I have a 2003 330i.. whats the advantage of mounting the BSW box on the "ceiling" of the trunk, as opposed to somewhere else, other than it keeping the most available trunk space? Is there a sound advantage? Ive read alot about sealed boxes not sounding great because of the good seal between the trunk and interior of the car...(I also do not have the ski pass/folding rear seats) and am just wondering if there is something else special with the BSW box. Are you required to remove rear deck speakers with this box?

Ive built about 10 sub boxes before for other vehicles, carpeted them, attained correct cubic volume, etc, so Im wondering if I can just build a similar box myself or if there is something else I am missing...??:help I might try to make a custom box for 1 10" sub in the rear right corner of the trunk instead of mounting it to the ceiling.

THANKS!

My understanding is that the box is lightweight and allows you to keep some floor space in your trunk....

If that's what you're after go that route...if that doesn't matter then I think a regular sealed box is the better performer...

My understanding of the BSW box is it's simply a sealed enclosure designed to minimise use of boot space by mounting it under the parcel shelf. Haven't tried getting bass through an e46 without ski pass through but my advice is before you go to the length of building a custom box to go in one corner, build a cheap generic box first and see if there's enough output. Hate you to do all the custom build then find out you're lacking bass in the cabin
