View Full Version : Signiture update?
Auraraptor 06-16-2008, 07:06 PM So I love my signiture, but feel its time for an update. Can someone clean it up a little bit (less blurry?) as well as make it so the background fades into the same color as the text box background? I don't want it to be a cut out like my avatar.

Auraraptor 06-16-2008, 07:09 PM And also a similar for an updated avatar? (cleaner with a fade into avatar background and less a "cut out" then it is now.
Here is the origina, pre-negative:

Gatsby740il 06-16-2008, 07:12 PM I'll clean it up for ya.. No Problem. I have another project on the plate right now so someone might beat me to it. If not, I'll have it posted in a bit.
Thanks!

Auraraptor 06-16-2008, 07:13 PM Thanks Gatsby! Much appreciated. :redspot I have no idea how to do the fade thing, so I just would use MS paint to literally pixil by pixil color in the background so it matched either the header or text box background...speak about fail. It came out ok-ish though with avatar I think.
Auraraptor 06-16-2008, 07:17 PM Do you think it looks better non-negative?
Auraraptor 06-16-2008, 07:24 PM Gonna try all black for a little.
Edit: Heh, I think the fade might be better....
Auraraptor 06-17-2008, 02:15 AM Gatsby, this is for you! Best I could do with MS Paint :(
Gatsby740il 06-17-2008, 10:36 AM I sent you a PM yesterday from my iPhone to double check a few things... but it may not have gone through. I'm sorry..
So you'd like the BMW Roundel for the Avatar then (original instructions) on the Sig?
It won't take me long to do. Thanks and Sorry for the mix-up!

straight6pwr 06-17-2008, 11:18 AM its 'signature' and 'pixel'. just to save you from someone who would get on you for it.

Thanks for the correction. English is my 3rd language. :shifty

No no, I made the roundel for you (just removed the white boarder and made it match the header background with MS paint. :stickoutt)
As I stated, I want my signature to be clearer, crisper, and instead of having the white background box, have said white background fade into the text box background.
A similar update for the avatar would be great, with it fading into the header background and being less a "cut out," if that makes any sense.

Auraraptor 06-24-2008, 05:55 PM The avatar looks so amazing. I guess having a larger image to work with helps out significantly.
Can you make the signature match in darkness/clarity, while keeping the fade effect on the sides? (In aside, signature the size limit is a maximum of 600 pixels wide and/or 240 pixels high)
Your work is amazing! I am addicted!
Gatsby740il 06-25-2008, 08:50 PM Glad to see you're all set! Sorry I couldn't help.. but I'll catch' ya on the next one.
Best Wishes!

Yes I can try to do that, it will take a while but I'll give it a shot.
Good idea to make it max width, it will definitely be more impressive.
Thanks! :thanks:

In aside, do you know how to make a vector LINEART file?
I am trying to make this file into one:

Yes, I can make vector images. No offense at all, but I'd want to start with something better aligned.

Sorry, I made it on MS Paint...that beacon of artistry that is. It is an engraving I am doing for pedals and I want it to match the V12 logo made ~3 years ago. Can you explain what you mean about alignment?
In aside, this is what happens when you don't use lineart...didn't on the V8...and they gave me this:
http://bimmerboard.com/members/auraraptor/original/v88.jpg
PS, I swear everytime I see your signature, it changes!
JJ Byzanz 07-20-2008, 06:49 PM First of all, the font has to match the V12 engraving.
Second, the pedals are of different texture, so it will always look different.
(Are you saying that the texture needs to be engraved as well as the V8 logo?)
I'd have to find the actual BMW V8 or just number 8 emblem then trace it.
Auraraptor 07-20-2008, 08:01 PM Again, it was what I could do given MS Paint at my disposal (I made the 'two' into an 'eight')
Here is the original V12 that was altered to make the V12 used. Note the V was changed to make it more symmetrical in the final design.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HN03&mospid=47786&btnr=51_4556&hg=51&fg=20
Here is the 8 in the same font (Modern BMW non-italic, not to be confused with the earlier non-italic used pre 1994)
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=FA93&mospid=47749&btnr=51_3914&hg=51&fg=20&hl=17
Note the texture pattern is just incidental as that was the piece I picked up. I have texture pattern on the brake pedals, while a smooth finish on the accel. pedals. I have posted images of the same pedal. I am also going to see if I can find the original V12 line art file. That will be a bit harder. It was years ago and on a different computer.
EDIT: I can't find the original file, just these gif conversions of it...at least you can get the "V" from it. I am looking for the adobe line art equivalent in V8 form: the same symmetrical "V" as seen below with an "8" in the size and style as the "12" seen below.
