started my 1999 bmw 750il today and got a message on the display, couldnt fully read it because of my pixel problems but it said something like "trans power safe" something of that sort, and once i started driving, car wasnt really driving the same, power wasnt there. 20 min later or so, i turned the car off and back on and message wasnt there anymore and car drove fine. can someone tell me that that message is and what it means and why does it show up.

trans fail safe mode possibly. You were driving in 3rd or 4th gear. which could be a tranny problem but the first thing to check is a low/dead battery and if the alternator died. These cars love juice and when they don't get it, all kinds of electrical gremlins can show up.
After driving 20 min. the battery was charged up so the message went away. Happened to me two months ago but more than just trans fail safe, all kinds of lights came on. I needed a new alternator.

you are most likely right because if i put my car into position 1 or 2 after like 20 seconds or so, all the lights go out, including radio, navi, etc. i cant even unlock the hidden menu and do the tests that people told me to run on this forum. which battery would you recommend to get other than the one from bmw which is alot of money?

Pep boys sells the class 95 battery from Bosch....about $100.00
or nappa auto store sells the 49d battery for $90.00 or try the dealer for $300.00 or junkyard....good battery still for $50
