My friends car is exhibiting a problem. After we replaced the slave cylinder, it sometimes is very reluctent to go into or change gears. We have bleed the slave and it's better. Any ideas.

It seems to change fine when I double clutch.

Ideas?

TIA,

Rich

tranny oil is one thing. and bleed the system again. and again, and make sure to not let any air back in, im guessing you do know how to bleed propperly. so yeah, bleed it again.

You have got to be kidding me...

A little background. The car has 86K miles, and sat in his garage from 1993 to May 2007. Had it flat towed to my shop, where it was resuscitated. Found the slave leaked, and replaced that, along with brakes, filters, fluids, plugs, wires, distributor, and carb. Welded a common crack on the drivers side motor mount.

There is no evidence that the master is leaking and the clutch arm seems to to move the correct amount when the pedal is pushed.

I guess I should more correctly ask if a bad throughout bearing or clutch would cause those symptoms?

ok. maybe it isn't the need to bleed, but let not rule it out. check/replace the tranny oil. makes all the difference, then if the problem persists, bleed the system. doing the tranny oil should take about 2 hours with a pump to pump the oil in.

Like I posted above, just changed the tranny fluid. I really think it's the master. After sitting so ling, it just doesn't look like it's holding. (I doubt it's the new slave).

Check the pedal box for fluid leaking from the master.
