Replaced front brake pads. Now wanna replace rear brake pads:
- removed anti-rattle clip = no problem
- pushed back the caliper piston w/ c-clamp = no problem
- tried to remove the 2 caliper guide bolts = BIG PROBLEM!: 7mm hex socket and wrench (normal Sears Craftsman tools) DO NOT FIT b/w bolt and SHOCK STRUT!!!!???? FYI: NO SUCH ISSUES WITH FRONT BRAKES!

Do I need special "short profile" hex socket? Are any special tools required for this?

Any help appreciated.

After some search on the web I stumbled upon bimmertools.com where they advertized special tools. There I found a "7 mm stubby brake bit" socket for $19 (+ tax but free shipping and a copy of a free handy torque spec cheat sheet to boot). Ken@bimmerstools.com confirmed via e-mail reply that the drive is 3/8" = perfect for my torque wrench (would have been nice if that was shown on the website). This stubby socket made the rear brake caliper guide bolt removal and torque-up breeze.

P.S. Full description of the socket on the package it came in is: AST BMW 307 7MM allen, 3/8" drive
