So... Bought my car a month ago and it has comfort access, everything worked fine. Remote had a nice range and I could unlock, start and lock the car by just keeping it in my pocket.

Recently the range decreased considerably to the point where I had to be right next to the car, or even have the remote inches from the door handle to be able to unlock it (via the key buttons or the comfort access).

Then last week, the remote would randomly not be recognized even when it was inside the car. Yesterday I finally got locked out and had to use the metal key to manually unlock the door and had to put the key in the ignition to get the car to start. Looks like all the wireless ability of the key just disappeared.

I changed the battery but no luck, its at the dealership now getting checked out. Just wondering what this could be, there is a service bulletin for the remote range being bad but the key just stopped working at this point...

can you elaborate on the SA for the range? thanks.

Went into the dealer today and after diagnosing it turned out the key is defective. I'll be getting a nice new shiny one next week yay!

Not sure, are you asking for the remote range service bulletin?

Here it is: 315MHz Remote Control Range is Inadequate- SI B66 01 03

You would still have to have some signs that the remote isnt working right, not just quote the bulletin number, although the number does help if they dont agree there is a problem right away when there clearly is.

thanks. i am in the hunt for a 750i and one of the "required" options is comfort access so it is good to know.

Dont know if you've had a car with that kind of feature before but it is sweet!

My dad has it on his S class and now that I have it, its so good that its painful when you dont have it. All you have to do with Comfort access is just open the door and it will automatically unlock, then sit, step on the brake and press the start button and the car is on. When you stop, just press the start/stop button again and the car goes into park and turns off. After getting out, just close the door and press in the door handle to lock the car.

Perfect.

how do you lock the door exactly?

my mandatory options are as follows: comfort acces; sport package; luxury seating package; premium sound.

convenience package; satelite radio and shades would be nice but not required.

...just close the door and press in the door handle to lock the car...

seriously, you pull the handle outward to open, but you can also push it in... it just goes in about a 1/4 inch, like a big button. That locks the car.

To be honest, it took me a while to figure that out, really just did it by accident (shouldve read the manual... :shifty)

u know i have always said that bmw does it better... i love how simple that is as opposed to the extra button everyone else has on their cars...
