So I got everything hooked up and went to start the motor. The car cranks and seems like its going to start, but nothing happens.

I cut pin 66 on the wiring harness to kill the EWS and I got a EWS delete chip. There is no check engine light. What could be the problem? I checked all the vacuum lines and they were all connected.

If you pose a suggestion please tell me how to test for it. Thanks

A little more details on the swap would be nice like what car did you swap the M52 into, OBD1, OBD2, etc. Have you done the basics already like checking for fuel, spark etc.........

Sorry. My car is a 95 325is with EWS therefore that is why I cut pin 66. I swapped in a 2.8l m52 from a 97 328. I converted the motor over to OBDI using the parts from my 325.

Side note: How do I check for fuel and spark. What are the easiest methods?

Oh cool. Well lets see you can pull out one of the coils out and point it up, reconnect it to the harness, push in an old plug and run a ground to it then try to start the engine and see if it sparks. As for fuel, undo the fuel line at left side chassis rail making sure to aim it into a container then try starting it. If you have no spark or fuel you probably have a ground disconnected somewhere. Recheck your wiring. Good luck.

So it was late last night and I had my friend install the chip. He put it in backwards. Flip it around and worked just fine.
