It is possible to special-order the vehicle without the body-roll-inducing shark fin roof antenna. When a vehicle is special-ordered without that antenna, the no-cost satellite radio preparation deletion option, then the antenna is deleted and the satellite radio may not be added.

One advantage is that the vehicle will corner better, because the fin acts like a boat’s rudder, forcing the vehicle roof to track straight, while the vehicle turns underneath it, inducing body roll.

Another is the antenna is butt-ugly. When deleted, the only items in the vehicle that fall into that category are the butts.

Of course the weight savings, of the fin, the antenna and the wiring are another plus.

You can delete the dreaded "Fin" but when you do that the factory automatically deducts 114 HP.

Will You Please Post Some Facts That Back Up Your Claim That The Fin Reduces Cornering Ability......

Also, That Thing Weighs Like 5 Pounds If That.....lol

Let me apologize in advance for being a smartass. But just had to say, this might make my list of the damnedest threads I have ever read. You want to save the weight and aero effect of the antenna! How about this, just take a leak before driving, that should offset the weight. And consider the fin as a high-speed stabilizer. Talk it up, soon everyone will be adding them!

Will You Please Post Some Facts That Back Up Your Claim That The Fin Reduces Cornering AbilityThe shark fin mimics the aerodynamics of a vertical stabilizer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_stabilizer), so unless it articulates at the rear it will induce roll, as stated.

That Thing Weighs Like 5 Pounds If ThatThere is about 0.1 HP equivalence per pound (http://www.tprmag.com/issue/16/light_club.shtml). So saving 5 pounds equals ½ HP.

Every new Porsche I've owned had vehicle-specific wiring harnesses, to exclude wires, contacts and connectors, when not required for the as-ordered vehicle configuration, for weight savings.

Yes, please use the vehicle to transport superfluous mass over every single mile.

How about this, just take a leak before driving, that should offset the weight.Already do that, but good suggestion. I also exercise to remain fit and constrain my mass. Extra stuff is also removed from the vehicle, unless required.

And consider the fin as a high-speed stabilizer. Talk it up, soon everyone will be adding them!Already been done (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tail_fin), but the 50s have passed. Owned one of those too...
