Hey all,
I have a 76 2002 that Recently had a motor rebuild and has less than 3000 miles on the fresh motor.

Any ways the 1st cylnders connecting rod bearing spun and is now in pieces in the oil pan (I dropped the oil pan to visually inspect it)

My question is what to do now?

and is it possible just to replace the one connecting rod bearing with out pulling the motor?

thanks

sorry to hear it, waterwagon.

Can't help myself but you've come to the right
place. What'd the rebuild entail & cost,- if you don't mind the asking.

Regardless, welcome & good luck.

One of the major causes of spun bearings shortly after it is rebuilt is out-of-round bigends on the conrods. Clearances may look OK with plastigauge, but the elongation will cause too tight a clearances on the short 'diameter'.

You should measure the bigends (and crank journals, as well) to make sure they are not oval. If this is the case, it would effectively mean pulling the engine and it'd be wise check all bigends.

The crank journal may be damaged as well.
