AGHHHH:mad:  !!!
I got a fix it ticket for my front side windows being tinted. They are tinted very lightly but still got a ticket (as well as other fix it's). Anyone know of any way to get around haveing to remove the tint. I got a Doctors note but even that was not enough to satisfy the CHIP's. DAMN! I am so pissed cause my car looks so sick with the fronts tinted. ANYONE PLEASE HELP. I HAVE TO GO TO TRAFFIC COURT ON WED TO PAY THE $10 FINE. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I am willing to try almost anything to convince the CHIP's that I NEED to have the windows tinted.
Thanks!:dunno

if it's a fix-it ticket, i think you can just pay the fine which is $50 or so (?) instead of removing the tint, getting it signed off, and paying $10.

I wish that it was only 50 bucks! They want 220 bucks just to pay the fine and leave it! Suck BS cause the window are barely tinted at all. I think ill just move to Florida or Nevada where it would be legal.:)

Man, I hate it when cops harass us over things like this. My dad was curious about what the CA vehicle code said about front window tint, and printed it out for me. It doesn't flat out say that window tint is legal, but it does say tint with at least 20% light transmittance can be used to improve visibility under harsh lighting conditions. What I've done in the past is take out and show the printed copy of the vehicle code to the cop, and then say that he must test it with a light transmittance meter before giving me a ticket. By this time, the cop is too preoccupied to notice the missing front license plate and so on and just leaves.

I wish I knew where to point you for a copy of the vehicle code, but it's public record and has to be readily available. Good luck.

It's on the California DMV's website: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/tocd12c4.htm It's all there and pretty straightforward. Note that the paragraph on the doctor's note specifies that you can't drive at night with the doctor-OK'd tint/device. Personally, I'm not willing to give up driving at night. :)

I do run my M3 without the front plate and I know I'm taking my chances, especially if I visit one of the local cities that tend to ticket for that. The regs are there for anyone to see, and if you choose to break them, well you roll the dice you take your chances.

Good luck though.

:) YEAH!
ended up taking my note from the doctor to the judge and she said that i would probably get pulled over again. then she slapped me with a $48 fine and told me she would see me later for a beer and pizza...no just kidding! but im happy cause now i get to keep my tint and only had to pay 48 bucks in processing fees mostly.
:buttrock
Thanks to those of you that helped out!
