I'm pumped! All day at the plant track in Spartanburg, SC tomorrow...we'll be driving the 335i Coupes from what I understand. This is my 40th birthday present from my parents. Taking my buddy Dean with me...he's a little uncoordinated so this should be interesting.

Woulda posted this in the proper area, but I'm afraid to leave the safe confines of OT. :shifty

Hang on...let me go get the letter and other stuff.

EDIT: Ok...it's the one day school. It just says: "Your day will start at 8:15am with registration. At 8:30am you will start the activities with a 'Theory' session on the day's events. Then it's out to the cars - BMW 335's."

you will have enough fun as is with the 335.

the track is awesome, the skid pad is cool as shit.

every break we get while at training there, we go outside and watch all the drivers on the track.

Mike Renner, is a cool guy, he is one of the instructors there.

At the end of the regular school you get to drive the m coupes, m5s and m6's, or so I hear.

I did the 2 day M class and it was fucking amazing. I had the fastest lap time in the m6, beating some old former racecar driver :wave

Wow I'm really jealous. Don't complain you're driving 'only' 335i's, they are only a tiny bit slower and larger than the 135i. Have fun!

All I can say is f-ing WOW! If you ever get the opportunity to go do it. I'll try and post a few pictures later. The 335i's are very quick and handle very well. We tore those poor cars up. It was literally balls-to-the-wall driving everytime you were behind the wheel. I had the 2nd best time on the dry course...some a-hole beat me by 11/100ths of a second.

I've never seen so many \\\M cars in one place in my life: M3s, M5s and M6s. Millions of dollars in cars at the facility.

The wet skidpad was amazing. I almost got to the point where I could make a half lap with the back end of the car hanging out.

Who is ready to go to the 2-day \\\M School with me?

we use an 03 e46 m3 convertible for training, 11 miles on it.

760 with a v12, 22 miles. they just sit there, and most of the time get canned when there done with them......

We might do the driving school this summer when my bro turns 18, but everyone has busy schedules.

Man, I went to one in Atlanta, and I was amazed. You will do the most outrageous things you will never ever do in a car again in your life. We had some nascar instructors that really know how to use the BMW's to their maximum effort. You will have fun, no doubt about it.

Its a fun experience. I've done it twice.

I know Mike Renner too, he's a great guy. I've been to a couple auto-x's with him, driving school events. He used to work with my father.

Would they ever let you train in your own car anyways? would'nt that not be covered by insurance?

Its better to use their cars so you can rip the shit out of them. You definitely get your moneys worth. Those pictures bring back such great memories. I need to go back.

Yes they do. Every year in October they rent out what used to be called California Speedway, now Auto Club Speedway, and do the same school out West for 2 weeks.

Wow, that's pricey, but for what you get, I can believe it's definately worth it. Maybe for a x-mas present :)

I did the regular at the time i think before the 335s came out and drove the z4 3.0si and the 330s, z4 was for the track and cone testing, the 330 was for the skid pad and the other skid pad (race) we did, not concrete but an asphalt oval and it was freakin fun.

i had the fastest track time with the z4 out of the entire group at 24.34 seconds, (not a big lap)

i think ours ran 550 or 600 a person for price wise if anyone is curious.

That's a good time for that small course...I think the school is up to $650 now.

I agree, that's a great time...I beat it, but then when we did it we were using M Z4's, so it's not really a fair comparison...

it depends really, not a lot of speed, the acceleration and what not is what happens

the z4 3.0s we had were the 225hp versions? not yet 255.

my brother did warm the tires up for me somewhat, his best time was 25.06, he did pulla 24.67 but he stopped outside the box, i used the steering wheel to put me sideways in the box to keep me in the 4 cones so i didnt lose a second.

my 3 times were 24.78, 25.22 and then last was the 24.34
