Okay guys - did a stupid thing... I usually use zaino on the car, but last weekend, I decided after buffing the hood, roof, and trunk lid, to bust open the can of Vista wax and give it a coat...

Now the paint (black) has a haze on it that I can't get rid of...I tried to buff the wax off with clean cotton towels, but the haze doesn't go away. What should I use to get that crap off?!?! Someone told me Dawn dish soap would and also white vinegar and water, but a little apprehensive about using that on the finish.

dawn dish soap is supossed to strip wax off... go with that.. its pretty safe

go get a clay bar....

ur removes wax, which also takes out the contaminates in the wax.

I think that's a safer way than putting dish washing soap on ur car.

if you dont do the clay bar right you can severely damage your finish...

dawn is a mild detergent which wont harm anything... I have used it many times... and know many many people who have also.. (doesnt zaino even recommend using it?)


You could always wait a bit... the wax will melt more or less in the heat...

I'll tell you how to remove the wax! Leave the car out in the sun and let the finish get hot. Hook up your hose to the spigot of your water heater if it's convenient to do so. Hose down and wash the car using hot water and lots of regular car shampoo... The hot finish along with lots of shampoo and hot water will strip the wax right off!

On the other hand, if you want to preserve the wax, make sure the car's finish is cool, use cool water and don't use any car shampoo!

Thanks guys for the replies... I had a zaino clay bar but haven't used it until today...
Washed the car with Dawn, dried and repeated. Water still beaded up so i claybar'd the trunk and washed again. I think that took it off but one more wash with the dawn and hot water should do it tomorrow.
