In the category of "as out of place as a white leisure suit at a funeral" . . .

I'm in Chapel Hill, NC -- zip 27516 and can be reached at the email larryharper at gmail dot com

Okay, let's try this again . . . . I've edited the listing so hopefully it'll better serve the people looking at it.

The price is $1650.

I accept cash. I won't ship the truck (esp to ya know, Nigeria which has been a recent request to no surprise of mine).

This is $1600 under Blue Book (if in "Excellent" condition, which it's not, but could be put in this condition for well less than that amount). It's also $775 under "Fair" condition (the lowest 'gradable' condition).

This is my guaranteed availability this week -- Tue, Wed, Thur anytime after 3 p.m. Friday after 7pm, all day Saturday and Sunday. If you'd like to meet at a time other than this, morning (8 am --> 11 am) is very much preferred to mid-day. In your inquiry, keep this in mind, if you tell me you're coming, tell me when you'd like to come. I'm about 7 minutes west of Carrboro if taking Hwy 54. I'll provide a 'mapquestable' address in the reply.

I'm leaving town on the 17th and this guy has to be gone by then.

I will also add that "the first person here, in person, money in hand, who declares a desire for the truck" takes it.

Okay, back to the matter at hand . . . the truck . . .

Well, it's that time.

I have way too many cars and it's time to consolidate.

I've also got a E23 7 series that's about to be ready to go soon, but for now, it's one that's near and dear to my heart. My truck.

As to specifics, it's a 1995 Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab. Automatic tranny, 4.0 V-6 (the biggest engine package for the Ranger that year, so plenty of get up and go).

Two wheel drive, towing package, Sony CD player (reads MP3 cd's), 4 Pioneer 6x9's.

Also includes the Uniden mobile Bearcat 350 scanner (located under the CD player in the pics). My brother installed it when I let him borrow the truck for a month or so. He was a rescue squad/vol FF/something or other before he joined the police force, and had a use for it. I'm pretty sure the sound output is just to a earpiece (as opposed to say, it running through the sound system). So, if nothing else, you're getting a $100 scanner ;)

It has 239,000 miles. 90% of which are interstate miles. It was the truck I took to college and since school was 7 hours away from home, it made many trips across I-40 in it's time. With that I'll say, I trust this truck to go everywhere and it's never left me stranded. I've owned it since new and it was my first car. I've always done regular maintainance and it's never left me stranded once. I didn't keep records on it, no offense to Ford truck owners but it's not one of my Bimmers, (which I keep notebooks full of crap on), and it's $1,650. I changed the oil, air filters, etc regularly.

I did the tranny fluid, filter and gasket on Saturday (for example).

The engine runs absolutely great. Fires right up, has plenty of power and idles smoothly.

It is quite simply been an amazing truck and I trust it completely. Last fall was a trip to Ohio and back and a couple trips to Charlotte over Christmas were made without a second thought. I took it out the past week and drove it quite a bit (to Greensboro twice during the 100 degree days) and it ran utterly fabulous.

I hardly drive it these days except to haul the trash and go to Lowe's and such. It has never failed to start right up. So, if you're either looking for a 'work truck' or just need a truck for those random errands (like me, trash and Lowe's, etc) but you want to know it's dependable, this is the one.

If you're looking for someone a 'first truck' to last a few years I wouldn't have any doubts in this one.

But, like I said, I never drive it and I have a driveway full of cars (with no end in sight to the sickness and it's time to thin the heard ;)

Let me now describe every 'major thing' that is currently 'non functional' on the truck so you people expecting a perfect truck for 45% off Blue Book will quit foaming at the mouth.

CEL is on -- Advance ran the codes and said it was the EGR Valve. They appear to be $48 at Advance Auto and it's a 'both hands job' (i.e. "I can see it and put both hands on it" level of easy to replace, as opposed to say, "I can touch it with two foot worth of extensions and a handful of universal joints). It sits right up on the driver's side off to the side.

Airbag light is on. Advance said it needs to be reset by the Factory (airbag has never been 'fired' or removed or anything like that).

Windshield is cracked. Does not leak in any way. Does not hamper visibility. It actually got it's first crack on the way home from the dealership when I bought it new. In 13 years it's never bothered me and spread a few inches every time another rock off another dump truck hit it. It won't constantly distract the driver but the passenger will notice (i.e. I forget it's there but it's the first thing every passenger ever mentions haha). Could have filed it with my insurance when I carried comp coverage on it but it didn't bother me. Safelite gave me a quote of like $185 once to replace it if it bothers ya that much.

Dents here and there (check out the pics, driver's side front fender, pass side door). Mostly from deer trying to hitch a ride in the truck.

Driver's door is not the original driver's door. I was hit and run one night by a drunk driver and afterward just went to the salvage yard to find one of the same color and put it on instead of calling the ins company and filing a claim.

The A/C was working last year when I ran it. I ran it the other day and it was 'cool' but def not cold. Could def use a R134 recharge I would say. (a 101 degree day prob wasn't the best day to have it's first test of the year haha).

Tranny shifts 'less than perfectly smoothly'. It's never been particular smooth (esp as soon at the warranty expired at 36K miles haha) but has never given me issues, left me stranded, etc and I've always changed the fluid/filter/gasket at 'every other' oil change so it's def gotten regular attention.

Again, if you'd like to fix all of these things, give the carpet a good steam cleaning, and give it a Maaco paint job you could still be under $3400 for a cosmetically perfectly truck. Me, I drive it to the dump and the hardware store and neither of those places cares what my truck looks like ;)

Price is again . . . $1,650. If you're interested let me know and we'll go from there.

(Bimmer in the background, def not the one for sale ;) haha)

Again, I have the title in my hand. When you bring cash, we'll find a notary and it's yours. Done. I'm a motivated seller and as much as love this truck (it was my first car and I've owned it since new) it's time for it to go before my summer schedule keeps me out of town for three months.

All for now.

Thanks so much in advance.
