Come on people, lets make it happen!!!!!!

******updated info********
Meeting place will be at Hooters on 280 near the intersection of 280 and 119. Its in the strip behind the IHOP and Outback Steakhouse if I remember correctly.
Lets say meet up at noon for lunch and drinks.

Anyone have recommendations on afterwards? We could cruise over to Barber Motorsports museum for photos and a nice drive through pretty country?

I've got to work that morning, Oracle upgrades. Not sure how long it will take.

We're going out to Barber this weekend to watch the NASA SpecE30 races

Anytime between noon and 5 pm is fine with me....

I need to bring some goodies to give to people:
1)bunch of wheel bolts and nuts
2)m3 brake pads..not sure if it's front or rears..
3)OBDI reset tool (if I can find it)..

Yes, some UFC fight...I may be going to a nearest watering hole to watch it or may pony up $40 to get it on PPV.

Are you guys still meeting up for lunch on Fridays still?

miklm
06-03-2008, 12:20 PM
Yeah, we're meeting this Friday at noon, somewhere around 459/280 interchange, haven't actually picked a restaurant yet. PM me your email address and I'll send you an invite once we get it set up.

I work off hwy 31 North & 40-59 (industrial side of town)...I can try to scoot quickly to that side of town for lunch on Friday...hopefully some place I can order quickly...

Robert:
Same here..I keep asking for a meet at Hooters/etc but I keep getting shot down. Just because I drive a shitty S4, doesn't mean I'm not cool enough for school to hang out with my old peeps.

madsedan
06-03-2008, 01:18 PM
Try to come out on the 14th if you can, a bunch of other guys from out of town are coming in. Maybe we'll meet up at a Hooters just for you ;)

mcbk1452
06-03-2008, 01:33 PM
If you guys hammer out a plan on where and when on the 14th then I can try to work around that...I've got a work thing Sat morning. My afternoon is "free" and sunday is booked.

Don't entice me with promises of Hooters...it'll be a big let down for me again. I haven't been to a Hooters since last summer. That's pretty effin sad...:(

Well, since this is a carry-over topic from my original Central AL Meet, Greet, and Eat thread, I would assume we're still doing just that. Meet, Eat at Hooters, and take a drive/do a photo shoot and what not...

I am down for the 14th What time frame are we looking at?

madsedan
06-04-2008, 03:18 PM
Do we want to meet up at Hooters on 119 by Oak Mountain off I-65 or at Hooters on 280 near the intersection with 119?
The one on 280 is bigger but usually on a Saturday when Auburn or Alabama isn't playing both will be fairly empty.

I've e-mailed other BMW club people that aren't normally on these forums and posted links to this thread on bavision's website as well as e46 fanatics.

I also made sure to e-mail crazyro (emanuel) who is a professional photographer to see if he can make it, he has a nice clean E46 and takes great highres car shots, should be nice.

From what I've been told the one on 280 is much better than the other one. I say we do it there.

I suggest updating the first post with peeps attending, location, etc. like I did on my thread, just to get an idea of how many we have and whatnot.

Put me down for +1 (E46).

There's also the option of the Hooters in Homewood on Lakeshore, which has significantly higher amounts quality/talent.

No offense, but this thread is a little unorganized. Please update the first post with times, locations, and a list of peeps that said they're coming to give everyone an idea of what's going on.

I hope this is going to be a nice weekend, not too damn hot, and a lot of fun with tha bimmaaaaaasssss!

Sounds good. I heard that Porsche guys hang out at Logans on 280. So, we need to buzz by there and show them the redbull mini cooper beating the porsche....

Where's professor Timmah? He needs to come out too..

I found my goodies to bring...

DJDD

So can we get some definite details for this meet? I need to know that it will be happening so I can take the day off from my second job.

I update the first post with some specifics but nobody else is coming up with more ideas other than meet at Hooters on 280 and go from there on a cruise or do a photoshoot somewhere nice like the Barber museum.

So far that sounds good. Now that I know a place and time I can make sure to be off. I believe once we get there we'll discuss what else we might want to do.

^ I agree! Nick, we need to arrange a time to meet at a gas station near 65 on 14 Saturday. Also, if you could use your sweet map skills, I can be lazy and just follow you up there.

There's also the option of the Hooters in Homewood on Lakeshore, which has significantly higher amounts quality/talent.

I beg to differ on the talent(s) at the Lakeshore location...if you're young/single and own a car (not necessary both requisites..just one out of two is good enough)...the girls will be all over you like fat kid on cake.
It took my buddy 15 mins to get one of them to come home and he's regretted it ever since...psycho.
It's a lot closer to me but the clientèle that visit there are pretty shady too. I feel like I need a body guard every time I drop by there.

The Pelham, 280 and Trussville locations are more safe and wholesome...IMO.
This conclusion is not based on HEARSAY but from several years of research and countless hours of eating crappy wings and listening to bullshit stories about their life..."I'm working here to pay my way through school..yada yada.." ;)
But damn, it was worth it...:D

That settles it then, the 280 Hooters it is as it is a fairly central location.

Mike, let's meet at the USA Travel Center in front of my apartments at 10am so we can cruise up there, not worry about being late, and get the best parking spots. :cool I'll hit up robmac36067 tonight and see if he wants to go now that his car starts and he has new shocks, struts, and springs (thanks to my mechanical ingenuity).

Question for you B'Ham folks. Should we take 459 to 280 or hit Cahaba Valley Rd. off of 65. Which way would be faster?

1)Shortest route would be Cahaba Valley road off I-65. However, two way traffic with one lane each way and tons of traffic lights in between.

2)Quickest/efficient route is I-65 to I-459 then 280 hwy. Once you enter 280, good luck to you..it's a nightmare too.

It's really a toss up between the two..if you want to take in some consumerism sightseeing then take # 2 otherwise take # 1 route.
Personally, I would recommend taking # 2 route so that you can buzz the Porsche guys at Logan's Steakhouse (if they show up).

madsedan
06-11-2008, 03:36 PM
Yep, I'd get off at Cahaba Valley Road, the Oak Mountain exit off 65, take a right and enjoy a peaceful 15 minute drive up to 280.
At 280 take a left and the Hooters is in the shopping center on the right.

DJDD
06-11-2008, 04:42 PM
I might take the 65 to CVR, but then again I would like to buzz the Porsche guys as well. :D We'll discuss it Saturday morning.

From visiting my aunt and uncle off of CVR I know it's not such a bad drive and some fairly decent scenery and nice houses.

So besides the Barber's museum, are there any really good twisties up there we can try out?

madsedan
06-11-2008, 04:45 PM
Rocky Ridge road in Hoover is nice but the road from Tom Williams BMW to Barbers museum is great, pretty technical and dangerous if you get cocky. You carry to much speed through one section in the shade and you'll realize the pavement is rough right as you are sliding off into the trees.

These sound like words from someone who's been there and had his car towed. ;)

Any ideas for after the museum? I'm a big guy so I know I'll be thinking of dinner after a drive and museum tour. :cool

madsedan
06-11-2008, 04:55 PM
Not my personally but I've known a couple people that have gotten towed out of the sticks around there ;)
10 minutes or less from Barber's is Trussville and there is a Red Robin burger place and lots of other stuff right around there.
Or you could go about 10 minutes south on 459 and be back on 280 where there is all kinds of stuff in the Summit at the intersection of 280/459.

I haven't ever heard that line much from any Hooters girl I've been around, but I've heard it plenty from the girls over on Valley Ave. They would have you convinced that 90% of female doctors and RNs used to be dancers since their all just "workin they way through med school".

No, still racing the Frankencar, had 3 2nd place class wins this past weekend at the Barber NASA event. Had a 3rd overall for the 3-hour enduro on Friday, did it solo, man was it hot (87 laps).

Will do my best to stop by, the 968 is idle as it is waiting for me to replace the water pump, so I'll be in my fabulous F150 :rolleyes

Just curious, is my '02 E46 going to be the newest Bimmer there?

Also, is anyone bringing a +1 or their woman? Mine wants to know if this is a "guys only" event.

madsedan
06-13-2008, 01:47 PM
My wife and kids will be home but if your woman is hot, looks good partially nude, and doesn't mind posing next to BMW's then bring her ;)
Seriously though, it'll likely be mostly guys maybe a couple of girls, the last couple times we did this there was maybe one girl there but she had a good time watching us act like asses.

I had a spa yellow 2001 S2k over a year ago, bought it in August of 06 and then sold in March of 07, I loved driving that car, fantastic, I'd buy another one.
My E36 will be put up for sale soon and is available for sale to locals very cheap now if anyone wants it. I just put a new exhaust on it last weekend, that TSE exhaust sounds badass compared to the Borla it replaced.

Si.
I invited a bunch of guys, many long time BMWCCA people with nice cars, hope some of them come out. I'll be there if it rains or is dry, either way. We used to do a Hooters meet like this in Kansas City when I lived up there and it was huge, by the time I left to move back here in 2004 we were getting 20+ BMW's, Viper club guys, Ferrari, Lambo, all kinds of crap, it was great.

Scheisse! I'd love for the AL guys to bond like that. There is a pretty good S2000 group in AL that I was active with. I'd like monthy meets to continue, each time maybe meeting somewhere different, with a different activity planned. It'd suck for us southern boys to have to make the drive up to B'ham every meet. Alternate it a bit, ya know? Don't know of any other interesting places, though. Cheaha has some nice curvies...

Wow, this thread sure died. I mean, I know the meet was last weekend, but after we posted pics there were no comments on em or anything. Nothing spectacular, I know, but bmzero had some cool effects goin on in his shots...

until next month! -Mikee

I bet if I posted the video of madsedan pulling his wedding tackle out, this thread would get some comments.

I'm kicking around twin-turbo-ing a C6 Corvette. I'm not really looking to sell Ester, but before you buy one, let me know. I don't know that I really need two fun cars in the fleet.

I'm working with Hutter Performance on redesigning their site and they have really amplified my Corvette/turbo bug. Here is the template for their new site: http://d8214472.u122.isoaxishosting.com/Template.htm. It's just a template right now; none of the links work. Let me know what you think.

Is he doing the monkey porn thing again? If so tell him he owes me $300 for that chimpanzee! </randomness>

Sure Robbie, if you got decent tires on the contours I'd probably trade you.
