So tonight I was driving down saratoga ave and in further down terms hwy 9. I was at a stop the intersection of prospect at a red light and a bright red NSX pulls up to just as the red light turns green. He never got to a complete stop, but stayed right next to me revving his engine a bit while the passenger was staring at me. Immediatly I hit the traction contol. Were going bout 40mph, I downshift into 2nd and get ready. I was at high rpm and my foot was right on the gas waiting. As soon as he punched it I did. I was shifting so pefectly. Took it to about 6700 and shifted into 3rd. Well I was consentrating so hard on shifting exactly at bout 6700, and watching the road any my rpm's that I really only had 1/4 of my eye on him, and I was pulling pretty well. Untill I put my brakes on in clear vicotry for me. To 90mph or so I had him by a good car1 -1 1/2 cars.:buttrock I was so astonished on my driving and my lead that I wanted one more go at it. This time I wanted to give him a little head start. As we both slow we are cruzing at 50mph right next to eachother. I kept looking at the passenger and nodding my head. There were two chinese guys in the car. Anyhow for about a minute were side by side. I kept nodding my head and pointing to the passenger. I wanted him to hit it clearly before me and see if I could catch up. So finally after like a minute of nodding and pointing he hits it. He jumped a quick car on me, and it was time for me to chase him down. Through second he was still a tad in front of me. Between 2nd -3rd I got a bad shift. I could feel the tires spin, upsettingly. By the end of third I was side by side with him. Then into 4th we were side by side @85mph but I had to brake quick cause little did I realize there was a car in front of me in a 45mph zone, and I was getting way to close. As I hit my brakes he turned off to a side street, and I did also (different side streets). Good thing we turned off becuase less than a 1/4 mile away was a cop station.:devillook . Well I was pretty happy to take a 90k+ car (not exactly sure if there 90k but i know there a lot new). Be aware though, NSX's are pretty dang fast. I wouldnt dare try to race him if i didnt have my beloved blower on. Hopefully by the time another NSX tries to race me Ill have my custom FMIC on and have another 2 psi with pulley upgrade.;)

Nice kill. Of course, in this area, there are quite a few SC NSXs and at least one monster turbo, so you may chance upon an NSX that'll give you a better run! Not that I condone that sort of thing... :devillook

not to be a downer on NSX , but I think they are horribly under powered for there cost. The car costs more than 70K, and I dont think there is another sport car in that price range the NSX can beat.

Most of the NSXCA club members probably agree with you on the power thing. You really do have to drive one to understand why some people might buy it anyway - it's certainly NOT because of the power output.

Any chance on you using the CORRECT logo for BayBimmerz? I can provide you with it, as well as a sticker from our club.

how much does a SC cost for an NSX? What is their reliability? They sound interesting :devillook

The charger kits run about $6.5K to $10K, with both centrifugal and twin-screw options available. There's a tuner in the Modesto CA that has done several custom turbo kits starting from the same price range. Reliability with the Comptech kit is well established, the other options are relatively new. First URL is the centrifugal, second the twin-screw, and third, Gerry's custom turbo.

I also agree but that can always be changed. Heck they have been out for over 10 years now... and still looks like a great car...

One thing I have heard and read about the NSX... and I am sure you are well aware since you own one... Their reliability is superior..

BTW is that a zanardi edition?

Yep, extremely reliable - a go-fast applicance. It's a Zanardi with the Comptech SC. It's quite a bit faster than the aftercooled Dinan charged M3 because it makes torque much earlier in the rev range. Torque production is nothing like your Viper though!

I was pretty shocked myself to hear they dyno numbers...Our 01 RT/10 pulled actully less... It ran just under 400rwhp and around 440rwtq... I have also read something briefly that 96's were more powerful somewhere on viper.org...Ahh hearing it on the dyno was the monster comming out....

Yeah in about 3rd at around 80... Is where the car is deadly...Never ran it on the 1/4 just track... But man launching any viper... or that high of torque monstered car is tough... I have buddies at school that will destroy me off the line in their AWD dsm's when they drop it at 6 grand...

I think that black turobed nsx in one of those links was racingflix car of the month a while back... I am still in awe
