View Full Version : New member, saying hello
foilman 05-31-2008, 09:01 PM I just joined the forum, recently rescued a neglected '96 318ti. I'm new to BMW's in general, but I'm good with wrenches and pretty active in motorsports as the ti has already learned. ;) I'm a contractor with IBM, live in Atlanta, mid 30's.
So where are the shops that cater to BMWs and have spare parts, performance stuff etc?

BMRSEB 05-31-2008, 09:06 PM Welcome! :wave
As far as shops, etc.. if you look directly above your post there's a "sticky" specifically for that request.. :D

pfft, m52 turbo :D
foilman 05-31-2008, 09:40 PM Anybody know the place in Griffin always listing parts on Craigslist?
For now, this car is pretty a commuter while I work on another project... in fact, it's even autotragic. I considered the blasphemous but always grin inducing ls1 swap, till I read about headaches stuffing it in an e36.

s14realm3 06-01-2008, 10:11 AM There are 3 thoughts on the Ti, #1-you can go Ford 302/Chevy 350/305. (NOOOO) #2- 6 cyclinder m50-s50/52 obd1/2, #3- stay 4 cyclinder with a Downing Atlanta supercharger or even high $$ S14!!!!!! (hail to the mighty S14). Most Ti conversions I have seen is the 6 cyclinder route. I have seen a few supercharged ones and 2-s14 conversion. This all depends on what you like. The feel of a high rev 4 cyclinder, the smoothness of a 6 cyclinder or BIG torque of the american iron. The supercharger will get you 200h.p. The S14 will get you 210 BUT its a pricey engine tranny combo. The 6 cyclinder will get you anywhere from 200-300 depends on your budget.

... BMW's... BMWs...

Foilman,
By joining our ranks you have exponentially raised your chances of doing certain things like:
-Buying LTW wheels
-Replacing every functional turn signal on your car with a clear one
-Lowering your car
-Hanging out in random parking lots late into the night with other BMW owners simply walking around look at each others cars
-Driving across Atlanta to drink German beer with someone who you have never met, and know only as 'E36guyMPOWER12'
-Being bitten by an attack dog ...on purpose
drs1457 06-01-2008, 04:49 PM Welcome Foilman.

Uuhhm... that's not too far off. Hahahaa!
As for the activities you listed; I'm accustomed to that stuff already, even put myself in peril with viscous dogs.

You've never been to one of my cookouts, mine are vicious not viscous. Details needed on your peril with "viscous" dogs, ever work with Police K9s?

foilman 06-02-2008, 08:08 PM I've never liked pluralizing acronyms with an apostrophe though it seems to be common. I'm still torn as you can see. Viscous or Viscious dogs... don't want to be bit by either one... good thing they can't proofread my messages.
I'll mind my p's and q's, but if I ever see one of you a-holes type "VIN #" you better be ready. :devil smiley I'm not allowed to use yet:
