View Full Version : e90 M3 with DCT availability? akssriva 05-31-2008, 04:31 PM I am in Northern California and was wondering if anyone knew the release date for the M3 Sedan with DCT. 325guy 05-31-2008, 05:49 PM No M car offered with an automatic. Ever. Ogalthorpe 05-31-2008, 09:15 PM They are out... I was at the dealership today and they had one... Ebay is already listing 3 of them.. Inicent Child 05-31-2008, 11:36 PM No M car offered with an automatic. Ever.U sure about that?:devillook deepgreen 06-01-2008, 04:11 AM No M car offered with an automatic. Ever. That's dumb, there's a '95 M3 automatic parked in my garage. One of 96 shipped to NA that year. 325guy 06-01-2008, 08:47 AM OK not recently, and not many. Definitely not now. M-DCT is not an automatic. SMG is not an automatic. If you think it is and insist on calling it one, you have no clue. Inicent Child 06-01-2008, 02:16 PM OK not recently, and not many. Ogalthorpe 06-01-2008, 04:31 PM yep, since the car automatically shifts for you. Agreed, and they are already roaming the streets :) tenfifteen 06-02-2008, 05:18 AM If the car shifts for you, I've got no problem calling it an auto, but I don't think that's the case with all clutchless transmissions. Will the F430's shift for you? (I'm asking; I really don't know) 325guy 06-02-2008, 07:04 AM Yes, the F430 and Gallardo have an automatic mode. They are not clutchless transmissions nor automatics either. Power robbing torque converter = automatic. impulsoren 06-03-2008, 10:15 PM Yes, the F430 and Gallardo have an automatic mode. They are not clutchless transmissions nor automatics either. Power robbing torque converter = automatic. Regarding semantics, what is the new transmission option from Mercedes-Benz called? Automatic or not? The transmission itself is identical to their automatic, but there is no torque converter. aus 06-06-2008, 02:15 AM For the OP, the E90 M-DCT is delayed from what I've read. E92 M-DCT's are out. Just don't let the dealer change the tranny fluid at the 1200 mile service. an02195 06-06-2008, 03:42 AM For the OP, the E90 M-DCT is delayed from what I've read. E92 M-DCT's are out. Just don't let the dealer change the tranny fluid at the 1200 mile service. They were supposed to start production on June 2nd. My week 24 e90 with m-dct actually started in week 22, and finished production yesterday. It will be in SC around July 8th. I have performance delivery scheduled for July 17th. Kevlar 06-06-2008, 10:31 AM The E90 M3 w/ DCT will be available June/July. ArcticFox 06-10-2008, 01:31 PM The E90 M3 w/ DCT will be available June/July. Yep...mine was one of the first to go into production. It just finsihed paint yesterday and is slated to be completed tomorrow. As for an E90 M3 DCT roaming the streets, it won't be until mid July until they start to arrive on the West Coast.....mine should be here around July 15 or so. So they say.... bowmang 06-10-2008, 01:47 PM well, i sent a E90 DCT to san fransisco BMW just last week... well, i finished the work on it... i'm not sure if it made it on a truck yet..... it was not a sold item though, dealer stock.. possibly a display vehicle rudyE38 06-12-2008, 04:58 PM auto = torque converter. manual = clutch. therefore both the DCT and the SMG are manual seeing as they both have clutchs. In fact, 2 on the DCT. ;) DakarYM3 06-12-2008, 09:52 PM so SMG is fundementally flawed or ill-designed? i mean, why does BMW steered away from improving it but intead, took the route of VW/AUDI ? m3j0n 06-12-2008, 09:56 PM No M car offered with an automatic. Ever. excuse me? :confused:confused:confused m3j0n 06-12-2008, 09:57 PM btw, the DCT m3s have been at the local dealer for at least a month now. an02195 06-12-2008, 10:59 PM btw, the DCT m3s have been at the local dealer for at least a month now. I think the OP was talking about e90s, not e92s. The first production e90s are leaving bremerhaven in the next week, and hitting our shores in late june/ early july aus 06-12-2008, 11:01 PM Not the E90's. The E92's have been out for a while. The main reason they switched to DKG is due to smoothness of the shifts. People who don't know how to drive a stick and drive an SMG, can't shift smoothly. ANYONE can drive a DKG smoothly. and like 325guy said, there has never been an auto tranny on an M-car. rudyE38 06-13-2008, 12:33 PM yeah there has! E36 M3 bowmang 06-13-2008, 03:31 PM yeah there has! E36 M3 +1, E36 M3 had an auto option.. not to common, but definately out there |
