Actually I am trying to replace the top plastic cover on the heater core assembly. I have the dash, center console, steel brace and the front cover of the heater core removed. The top cover is still firmly in place and I am not sure what is holding it...
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this piece out?

I have a 1990 735i

Thanks

Hello and Welcome To BimmerForums!
Just for future reference.. your car is an E32 (not an E38) so posting in the main 7series Forum (Below the 2 Sub Forums) might get you more answers. :cool

Now.. as far as the top of the core... Do you mean this one?:
(sometimes the top plastic piece is black)

From what I can gather.. it's all 1 piece and should remove with the rest of the core assembly itself (as seen in the pic above). Remember to replace the 2 black, plastic hoses there too because they're inexpensive and good to do while you have the assembly out.

You might also be interested in buying a Bentley Repair Manual (OEM Authorized) for your car. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and They are EXTREMELY helpful and offer many step-by-step instructions (w/pictures) for the repair/maintenance of your E32. IF YOU CLICK HERE (AutohausAZ) (http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=yz2rpp45ts3v1yqklpxf5vuu&makeid=800003@BMW&modelid=1012734@735I&year=1990&cid=97@Repair%20Manuals&gid=9999@Repair%20Manuals%20-%20Book%20Versions) you can see and purchase one from, among other places, Autohaus Arizona for $79.99.

And, just incase you haven't purchased one yet.. I found you a heater core (also at AutohausAZ) CLICK HERE (http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=yz2rpp45ts3v1yqklpxf5vuu&makeid=800003@BMW&modelid=1012734@735I&year=1990&cid=24@AC%20%26%20Heat%20-%20Climate%20Control&gid=6864@Heater%20Core) for $181.75. And if you look above the description on that page, where it says "Customers who bought Heater Core also bought these item(s)," it will also recommend the hose I mentioned.

Hope this helps!

*EDIT*--LoL, Plik! The Good 'Ole BFH often comes in handy (or atleast it seems like it will)! :D

Thanks for the replies, but no to the question in the picture, the part I am refering to it the housing piece that goes above the heater core. The top part of the housing assenbly that the heater core sits in.

I'll repost in the right forum also, like you suggested.

Thanks again
