Has anyone ever successfully swapped an M50 into an E30 iX? Or any other engine for that matter?

Kingrye 05-30-2008, 02:57 PM I heard the aw tranny can 't take over 250hp, and is super expensive to replace. briangrenon2 05-30-2008, 03:08 PM damn. I guess maybe just head work and cams then? LOL genocide98 05-30-2008, 05:58 PM damn. I guess maybe just head work and cams then? LOL That wont net you too much power either... You could probably work it close but to see 230-240 to the wheels from an m20 you're going to have a LOT of money into it. Like a 2.8 or 3.0 stroker w/ cam, built head an exceptional tune.. etc etc. and you'll be looking at 200~ 230-250WHP is going to be expensive. Better off building a normal RWD e30 if you're trying for power. MoonLite 06-01-2008, 12:34 AM I heard the aw tranny can 't take over 250hp, and is super expensive to replace. So much bad information floating around the internet! The transmission isnt the weak spot. http://www.moonlitemotorwerks.com/325IX/ Kingrye 06-01-2008, 10:21 PM what is the weak spot? your front wheel gap? briangrenon2 06-02-2008, 12:19 PM yeah...well, Im not going for huge power...I've got an E36 M3 with a built motor and aGT35 going into it...so the iX is just my winter car...but I wanted to juice it up a little. Something cool to be said to have the power, and have all 4 pulling. Maybe I'll just leave it alone and enjoy it for what it is. briangrenon2 06-02-2008, 12:23 PM Damn...thanks Moonlite...so it can be done! briangrenon2 06-02-2008, 12:25 PM I'll be in touch soon! |
