Anyone want to get together and go to the new place in Shelby county, we could meet up at Buffalo Wild wings in Alabaster and drive from there. Its a pretty nice facility with pretty nice karts.

Hm! Possibly, depends on how things shake out tonight. I have to fetch an engine for my track car in the morning, then have to be at Sloss at 5:30 for the Magic City Brewfest.

I think shoes with closed toes is about the only thing, so that means no gay ass sandals Brian, I'll be in shorts.

Ya, I was there with a bunch of us gear-heads from Vestavia. What were yalls best times? I pulled a 46.3 with a couple of wet-spots on the track.

We didn't pay the extra $5 for a timeslip....so we can only assume that Robert and I had the fastest times out of everyone who has ever been there. And since you can't prove us wrong (due to the aforementioned lack of timeslips) I guess we're the all time champs.

Any info on this place? When peeps say "karts", I think Panama City.

Are these like Mario Kart karts, or what? Cause if so, I'm using the Blue Turtle Shell, bitches!!!

They're like those shifter karts you see on youtube with the hayabusa engines, except no hayabusa engine and no shifting. It's a CVT-like transmission and around ~10hp or so I'd guess. Though to their credit they weigh about as much as a coffee table. The fun part comes in the corners. It's a fun track with some nice turns. Every lap you will get steadily faster (atleast in my case that was true), as you learn the abilities and quirks of the karts. You gotta let the tires warm up first and then they can grip like crazy. They're set up pretty neutral, but can get sideways easily if you throttle it on corner exit. Another interesting tid-bit is the brakes. They've only got a disk that grips the rear axle, so braking is an art on these things as they can get squirrelly fast, it'll take you by surprise the first few times you push your luck.

Overall exteremely fun. It's very raw compared to a car, with no suspension and your ass sitting half an inch off the pavement (the ground clearance is incredible on these, I doubt you could slide a piece of paper under them). Does get pricey as it is $20 per run, for 10mins. But if you spread them out it seems longer than it is.

I'm all up for going back whenever you guys feel like it.

Sure, I'd be up for it. Thanks for the information, sounds like a good time!

Maybe wait until Sept. or Oct. and let the temp. cool off a bit? What's their season run?
