My 335 is on the way and I am considering the dinan stage 3 software upgrade. Does anyone have this in their 335? Do you like it? Should I have it installed immediately or maybe after the break in period?

View Full Version : 335 w/ dinan chip, is it worth it? thave 05-28-2008, 10:48 PM My 335 is on the way and I am considering the dinan stage 3 software upgrade. Does anyone have this in their 335? Do you like it? Should I have it installed immediately or maybe after the break in period? thekurgan 05-28-2008, 11:10 PM stage 3 is extreme, but I'm sure it's worth it. e92man 05-28-2008, 11:19 PM if your willing to pay the money...... there are better things out there for less money imo Jhunter 05-29-2008, 08:49 AM To get the warranty with stage three you also must buy the Dinan intercooler and oil cooler. $6,000+ before install costs. Ouch! thave 05-29-2008, 07:01 PM OUCH! is right. Stage 2 seems to be the way to go. Regardless, would you install it at delivery or after the break in? x986 05-29-2008, 08:12 PM Your first cost will be to read the thousand posts about it. thekurgan 05-29-2008, 10:26 PM OUCH! is right. Stage 2 seems to be the way to go. Regardless, would you install it at delivery or after the break in? after break-in, that way you can feel the difference and give your drivetrain a chance to break in as well. gameboy 05-29-2008, 11:22 PM I heard the dealer can tell if you piggybacked the ecu, as in chipped it or reprogrammed it. some of the guys with the 135i's were talking about it. ukthunderace 05-30-2008, 01:21 AM I heard the dealer can tell if you piggybacked the ecu, as in chipped it or reprogrammed it. some of the guys with the 135i's were talking about it. Uh.......:dunno thekurgan 05-30-2008, 10:04 AM I heard the dealer can tell if you piggybacked the ecu, as in chipped it or reprogrammed it. some of the guys with the 135i's were talking about it. Dinan is not a piggyback, it's an overwrite of several portions of the DME; Dinan is an authorized tuner for BMW and they match the warranty of BMW, which is most of the $2k cost you incur. thave 05-31-2008, 09:01 AM nevermind this question. the post about the dinan v m3 has answered it completely!!! TeaRoy 05-31-2008, 04:48 PM nevermind this question. the post about the dinan v m3 has answered it completely!!! Agreed, check out the video on the 'dinan v m3' thread. Seems to be a good comparison...I'm sure Dinan paid for it...but I don't blame 'em. PePsI BlUe E36 06-09-2008, 01:26 PM from what i hear most of the piggyback systems are easly removed and not traceable via the stealership. many systems cost a fraction of the dinan and are as aggressive if not more. many people are running vishu's system and still getting serviced at the dealer dinanfan 06-09-2008, 07:31 PM I bought my 335i because of the Dinan stage II upgrade was already installed. I love the extra power and the piece of mind that comes with keeping the warranty intact. I am dissapointed that the stage III kit costs so much more and doesn't add much more power. I did drive a new M3 coupe last week while I was picking up an oil filter for my car and I was surprised how much stronger the Dinan 335i felt compared to the M3. I have a standard transmission 335i so the comparison was easy. I still get great mileage with my car. 20 around town and 31 on the highway. Hope this helps. nm335 06-09-2008, 09:21 PM nevermind this question. the post about the dinan v m3 has answered it completely!!! Hello "thave": I have said it before. At altitude the stock 335 will dust the M3. Add an upgrade chip and it is really not fair. thave 06-10-2008, 09:01 AM I guess I'll just have to refer to the old adage my parents threw at me when i was a kid. "Life just isn't fair" I was thinking about hijacking a dinan badge for the trunk lid, but now I think I'll just go with the M3 badge and add the word "eater" to the end of it! VishalTB 06-11-2008, 12:23 PM :lol let me know when you get one, you might have to order me one too i'll mail you the money for it. :D |
