First off, I know how to drive so thats not the problem. For some reason almost everytime I redline my car, it makes a horrible grind when switching from 1st to 2nd. Anyone else having the same problem or know what the problem is?

Is the grind as you go into second gear? Sounds like bad syncros.

yeah its when i try to put it into second. It might work like one time out of ten.

See the Z4 section. M Coupe/Roadster drivers have experienced it. BMW has yet to recognized it as a problem.

Have you deleted or modified the CDV(clutch delay valve)?

Um, the CDV only affects how quickly the clutch is engaged when releasing the pedal. Its intent is to avoid too quick a release which would cause a "shock" to the driveline. Personally, I have never noticed any CDV effect in either my '05 330i or my '08 335i. In any event, the CDV will not affect the actual gear engagement within the transmission.

Um, beg to differ. While you are correct on the workings of the CDV, since I have changed mine, I have noticed a huge improvement to the notchy feeling of my 335i. I think that is what prompted the original question.

I noticed this the other night. I have NEVER grinded in my car, but I went from 1-2 and I grinded... A LOT. But the weird thing is the lever was in gear. I don't know what happened.

Where is the CDV located and how can I remove it?

I just got it back from the dealer and they said that a couple of their guys test drove it and it ran perfect. I guess ill just keep grinding my gears until I smoothen it out lol.
