View Full Version : When its all done what do you expect from your 8
smokum 05-27-2008, 03:44 AM When You are done putting every single part that you can scrounge up some dough for on you 8 series what is it that you expect from your car.
In my dream 850 TT i have kept up with the most expensive exotic supercars,
and have acheived this by 1) shaving weight were i can 2)anything driven manuely to be driven by electic motors "eg water pump, and fan" and 3) making the suspension solid and more stable.
I would love to be able to say The other day i was racing a Ferrari and or a porsche and i won or it was a draw.
With a comfy ride maybe :)
With a little sweet talking i think it can be done .....
Can i get an AMEN :buttrock
rcrad6653 05-27-2008, 08:33 AM It's been a long time since I've had the time and inclination to do a car just how I want. When done it will be unusual even among 8s here in the US and my satisfaction will come from the fact I've improved upon the marque itself with better handling and performance, and will get as many looks and pantie drops as a Porsche or Ferrari. All the little upgrades (ie: metal where plastic is, reinforcements, etc.) will improve safety and reliability. She won't be a trailer or garage Queen and I won't hesitate to drive very long distances for an 8er meet I'd like to attend. I'm a confirmed V8 guy and contrary to myth don't aspire ultimately to a 12cyl anything-and not because I can't afford it-. The pix posted earlier from our Swiss friend alongside the Ferrari in the Alps is more my style, and on that run I'd bet neither had anything on the other.
N91TX 05-27-2008, 09:37 AM A safe daily driver.
carspainc.com 05-27-2008, 09:44 AM ... i expect my 8 not to blow up at any given time.
that would be a nice achievement

C'mon Michael where's the faith.... your determination and perseverence alone will keep that car on the road...:stickoutt
carspainc.com 05-27-2008, 09:48 AM as far as the ferrari pipe dream is concerned...
i know a guy that bought a saturn and was getting all sorts of performance parts for it.
i was like... how silly , why don't you buy a fast car in the first place, instead of sinking all your money into upgrades.
that is somehow, the way those gallardo owners must see this notion.
if you want to have a supercar, then the best way to have that, is to buy
a supercar.

ohh i got faith ...haha. i believe that plenty of green will keep my car on the road.

Echo....Except the HP #s. I want 625 HP but more importantly the Torque to unseat an old oak tree roots and all. :buttrock

well i'm not sure how i'd hit 625 but my plan for 500bhp is just about together and fairly simple
9.5lbs pulley cat cams and snow performance water/methanol and i'm sure i'll hit my mark seeing as how i've see the v8's on 8.0lbs without cams go for 475bhp

Or enough Torque to cross the traps on two tires.:D

Only ever what was originally intended. A methodically confident, smooth, and fast ride in a luxurious and reliable coupe.
I understood from the beginning that it would never kill a Ferrari or Porsche, and if I wanted it to do that, that with the money required to do so with a platform not designed for it, that I'd might as well just buy a Ferrari.
sardonumsei 05-27-2008, 10:33 PM This is a simple one for me. When I am done, I want myself behind the wheel of a car I have always loved for as long as I can drive it.
carspainc.com 05-27-2008, 10:50 PM to me , the 8 series is the last car of a line of cars i always wanted to have.
it started with my first car a 635csi, then a few crappy cars, then a 928 followed by a couple more of those. then a merc 560 sec and now this.
and so far i can not imagine a car, that i feel i need to have.
Koizumi 05-27-2008, 11:10 PM Do you still have the 560? I still dream of owning one some day. There's an elderly lady who lives around me that has a black/black one in mint showroom condition. The car looks brand new.

no i sold her. the 560 is a nice driver... it's light years away from the comfort of an 8 series though. to me the 8 is the next step up in the evolution of coupes. if you can score that car for a descent price then i would pull the trigger, if i was you.
