:D yep im pretty happy about this one...heres how it went down.

guy i know just got a new stang, he pulled up to a stop light and said "wanna go" i was plenty willing :) he thought he was gonna kill me...but even with a 2k launch on my behalf i still has him by 4 or 5 cars by about 100...he was loose most of 1st gear, and the sound of that beast is amazing...i was very suprised that i beat him...but then again he did spin the tires...glad i didnt encounter a better driver who would have shamed me

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

It ain't the power, it's what you can do with it that matters.

Nice kill.... :buttrock

He should be put to death by his own brethren.... :D

Very nice kill. I saw a guy at the strip last week that could handle his really well, it was an impressive sight...and sound for that matter. Don't think anyone would debate that domestic muscle cars always have a nice throaty exhaust, all things aside, tie that in with the supercharger, wow! Nice whine and roar as he went down the strip, pretty slick.

I know you had to be pumped, and he had to be pissed :D

you have no idea how happy that made me feel...when i heard that engine, and the tires chirp off the line, and 1-2 shift...i thought i was gonna get killed.

Your just lucky that the guy couldnt drive, bc most 03 Cobras would have handed you your ass, as you said. Nice kill though, just make sure he doesnt go get exhaust and intake or else youll be in trouble!!!

i beat him by 5 cars and i didnt even launch the car, bottom line he cant drive...only mods are underdrive pulleys and suspension. the pulleys are good for about 10hp and 8lb tq

Teach him how to launch half decent and he'd be in trouble... :D

Yeah LOL, those cars are mean as hell with the right driver. Getting into the same discussion as on the s4. It's all about the driver!!!!

I got to ride along in a race last night bet. a Trans am that traps @ 120+ mph and an upped boost '03 cobra (~450 RWHP) it was sweet, the T/A pulled a couple of cars on the '03 but let me tell you those cobras can be made wickedly fast pretty cheap.

Those Evos are nasty, but I prefer the Z-06. If your Bro gets a used one steer clear of the '01, try and find an 02-up.

Low end torque is a great thing, my T/A made 300 RWFTLBS @ 2000 RPMs

Sounds like a pretty sweet ride you have man.

i agree both are great, but hes a big guy, and i think he also wants the awd aspect of it....i doubt hes gonna rally that thing, but he will enjoy it none the less, and it will get him into less trouble then the z06 im sure!!

Good kill. Now let the guy get used to the par.:12: I've had mine since Jan. and I still find myself forgetting to turn the traction control off. It's a good chance he had it on.

I will have to say though, I'm getting rid of my 03' Cobra and trading it in for a new Evo 8 myself. I need something fast, but practical.

I was reading about a new evo 8 the other day. Some guy bought one, stuck a chip in it, drove to the dyno, and put down 320RWHP

The EVO is suppose to be de-tuned a bit. From what I've been reading is the factory ecu is the only problem with the car. Runs really rich. WORKS is making a factory chipped ecu that should take care of the problem. They haven't released it yet from what I know because everytime they go to the dyno for more tuning they get more HP out of it. I read that lastnight in www.evoutionm.net in the WORKS forum.

actuallly his line to me was "next time i think ill keep my traction on!" anyways, its all good about hijacking for the evo thread, i would love him to get it....it would be his first stick car, so i would get plenty of time to drive it and "teach him" how to drive. ;)

Size is like horsepower, what you can do with it counts the most, and if you happen to have more than most... it makes you quite extraordinary...

had to do it sorry, u said u didnt launch and you beat him by 5 car lengths?

batmanalan, you are new here, and so far all of your posts seem to be of an antagonistic nature.

I should warn you that this is not that kind of place, and that type of behavior won't last real long around here.

what kind of turbo does the evo run that it can be boosted past the 19.5 psi stock. Im really surprised to hear that a chip alone can boost the power more than 80 horsepower! The evo is apparently the tuner car to have.

The evo has a "big" mitsubishi 16g turbo. It is a beefy version of the most common turbo to upgrade a DSM with (eclipse, talon, etc). It can easily support 20+ psi

I don't know about 80 HP, but from what I've gathered on the Evo forums is the weakest part of the Evo is the ecu. My buddy just bought the WORKS reflash for his and he said it's night and day and it supposivley gains about 30-35 hp on 93 octane. The Evo runs really fat. My buddy says I choke him out when he's following behind me and my car is stock.:dunno

gotta be willing to launch like a mofo in that car tho to get it to move. ive seen many at the track and the guys that move are the guys that get 4 wheels spinnin which means that they are prolly dropping over 5k Rpm

Well, I know this has turned into an EVO thread but I thought I'd throw in my .02 about the Stang....just had a friend with a 2003 SMG M3 beat a 2003 Cobra from a rolling start. He told me he had around a car length on him at 135 mph. Obviously, the guy in that Mustang couldn't drive either. The Mustangs do, of course, have 390 HP but you have to also remember they weigh A LOT....several hundred pounds more than an e46 M3. I would guess it doesn't take much to beat one if there is a poor driver behind the wheel.

Mustang 3665 lbs. 9.4 hp/lbs.
e46 M3 3415 lbs. 10.25 hp/lbs.
S54 M Coupe 3131 lbs. 9.94 hp/lbs.

Keep in mind, though, that the 03 Cobras "rating" of 390 bhp is extremely conservative, most guys are seeing 370-380 rwhp on the dyno bone stock when getting baseline #'s for mods and tweaks...

If an 03 Cobra lost to an M3 SMG, the guy in the Cobra didn't have a clue what he was doing...

I forgot about that...must be nice to have an underrated engine...

...My friend told me that the guy in the Mustang pulled up next to him and asked "Is your car fast?" My friend replied "Not as fast as yours." The guy in the Mustang still asked him if he wanted to go and my friend agreed.....my friend is a very experienced track driver and instructor so I would guess he most likely had the upper hand in driving skills:) Plus, with SMG, it's a little harder to make a mistake while shifting. Also, the only mod on the M3 is an exhaust handbuilt by owner himself.

MisterSLOW
07-16-2003, 08:27 PM
Thats a great feeling when you beat a car that should hand you your ass on a silver platter. Give your friend props on the 03 kill even though he does use SMG.
