I bought a 450 mile demo from the dealer here in Atlanta. They did not include a wallet key, and told me that BMW no longer provides wallet keys for the 335 convertible. Hard for me to believe--sounds like BS.
Any confirmation on that? Otherwise this is a spectacular car.

What the hell is a "wallet" key? I have heard of valet key. It's inside of your key FOB. Why would you need a "wallet" key anyway?

They stopped giving these with US spec 2007 3-Series models. you only get two master fobs now. But if you look at the key fobs, you will see a finger button like on the back. Push down and pull back. You should find the valet key (BINGO)
This is a wallet key

How can you use the little key that comes out of the fob as a valet key? It cant start the ignition.

you're supposed to keep the little key thing and the valet takes the plastic part. that way they cant access the trunk etc.

From my understanding the valet key will only open the drivers door and start the vehicle for a short period of time, about 10-15 minutes. (depending on year) This allows the Valet to park the car but not open the glove comp.or the trunk.

A picture of the key(s) included with an older 5-series (but you get the idea)

The plastic/wallet key is an emergency only key. I had it for my e36 and never used it. As displayed above, the valet key is different and you usually got a the picture shows, 2 keys + 2 remotes + 1 valet.

Thanks for the clarification. I have in fact used my wallet key for my e36, albeit not often. Nonetheless it is a nice thing to have, and I may try to get another.
Re the pull out "valet" key, is this what we give the parking attendant or do we give them the fob? I know the fob was mentioned above, but the fob does have a trunk button, as well as the trunk button in the front of the driver's door jamb.
I only skimmed the manual but will the key lock the trunk so it can't be opened by the fob or the interior button?

You give them the fob, after you lock the trunk using a switch in the glove box and then lock the glove box with the small pullout key that you keep with you. That way they can't open the glove box nor the trunk.
