Im surprised after looking over then forums that this idea hasn't been discussed. Would BMW ever consider reproducing the CSL Package for the the new body style? The first CSL was received with extreme fan fare from BMW enthusiast and with the recent release of the M3, I think the next logical step would be to release the E92 M3 CSL! If anyone has any relevant information on this please shed some light or just post your thoughts. . .

That's probably intentional to throw off the spy photographers and speculators.

It's looking like there will be no CSL! I was just on e90posts and supposedly BMW has trimmed enough off for the M3 that financially producing a CSL would be impractical/very very expensive. . .kind of a disappointment to the consumers.

There was just a thread in General that said there will be a CSL because of the popularity of the previous one. Doesn't really matter to us since it will probably never arrive on our side of the pond again. :(

It seems a little too soon for a CSL doesn't it? Didn't the last version come a few years after the E46 M3 came out?

The idea of a 3100 lb (or less) car with a high revving V8 sounds yummy ... maybe they will put the motor in the next Z4 M Coupe?

BMW Shareholders may disagree, such is the competitive automotive Corporate world these days. Some enthusiast popular choices may not be the best financially down the line. As an enthusiasts, I hope I am wrong on this though and BMW does continue to create enthusiast cars even if the demand is not strong.

Confirmed in Car magazine:

This sucks. I made up my mind a long time ago that even if I had to have an illegal import I was getting the new CSL.

Anyone with any influence out there please do your part to keep the CSL alive!

As a follow up wtf with giving the X series M treatment? I guess they feel they have to compete with the Porsche Cayenne and the Merc ML63AMG?

Instead of making a really special car to reward the BMW enthusiast they are going low brow with high powered SUV's. This is total bull s**t.

I hope this is only temporary and they will come to their senses.

They will go where the money is and it seems they don't believe the CSL will generate enough profits/sales to justify the development/production cost, but the high-end SUV market is still hot! Not what an enthusiast would like to hear, but BMW is in it to make money not to make enthusiasts happy, although they usually do both, just not all the time. The only way to bring the CSL back is to have enough pre-orders (with signed cheques) on the table. Money talks.

I wish.

For the longest time I wanted to track down all the CSL parts (interior and exterior) and build one up from an E46 I purchased here.. just too much work though.
