when i bought my car it came with an aftermarket single cd player in it. when i was looking around the house i found an old kf-93 tape player and wanted to put it in my car to make it look original. first of all do i have the correct tape player, it has a large connector around the fuse and a small connector below it which they told me at the dealer might not work and they were not sure. second how do i remove the after market cd player? there are no holes for the tool that most bmw radios require and looks to be bolted in. do i have to remove the whole console down to the gear selector to get to it or is there an easier way. thanks for your time.

Not too hard to remove the console-
In a nutshell:
Remove radio - no way to tell how your is installed as there are a few different ways to do it
Remove OBC - held in place with a few tabs on the top and bottom of the unit
remove the two plugs at the top of the center panel above the OBC
Remove the two screws
remove gear shift lever and boot - lever just pulls off - don't be staring down at it while you twist and pull - ask me how I know...
remove screw holding the bottom of the center panel
Another good pieces to remove is the trim piece that runs around the passenger compartment in front and to the left. This will give you some good access behind the console area. Having replaced a few radios in these cars I can tell you that it's not necessary, but it sure helps.
Good luck-aftermarket radio installations by someone else can be a PITA (depending on who did the work and how careful/respectful they were..)
