Performance Transmission Chip

Sporty acceleration is no longer the sole domain of those who like to shift gears; Dinan Automatic Transmission Software welcomes you to the performance zone. To fully utilize the extra power extracted by Dinan Engine Performance Products the transmission software raises the shift points to a higher rpm for faster acceleration in both the ''Sport'' and ''Economy'' modes, allowing you to carry more road speed in each gear.

Price on their site is "Call for pricing". :shifty If anyone here purchased recently, what'd you pay?

I got it about 18 months ago. Nice enhancement to the shift points and it seems like crisper shifting. (less delay between gears)

I paid $100 during the Dinan 1/2 price sale.

So I talked to someone that has the Dinan chip installed, and they noted the following quirks:

If you put the car in M, then you can't get it out of M until you turn off the car. It keeps you in E if you go directly into drive but if you go into any other gear or press the S button then you are in S and can't go back to E until the car is off. You can go to M from S and then you are stuck in M as stated above. Seems like it cripples too much native functionality if this is the case?! I like to switch between 'S' and 'E' frequently depending on the length of the drive... seems like this would be a pain in the butt! :confused

Has anyone else with the Dinan chip noted these issues?

Dinan Transmission chip wasn't developed for the Euro 3 mode controller (E/S/M) but for the Domestic 2 mode Controller (A/M) only. The controllers for the transmission are not the same, nor is the wiring to the controller. Thus, the Dinan chip is not suitable for a J-spec (Euro) transmission Controller.

I have what this thread refers to as the "domestic" transmission with the Dinan chip. Fortunately it was installed and the cost absorbed by the previous owner. The receipts reflect: Chip $349 Labor $50. I have had no conflicts and the shift points are a little higher than standard.

Wuffer hit it right on the head. I've spoken to a few people with the chip installed, as well as the DINAN Supervisor that I know personally at my dealer and it's $250 installed. The ones who've had it installed say it's worth every penny and more, I'm going to be getting it when I get my Wolf Chip done.

Works great on the 5 speed auto in my early 840 and is a great match for the Wokke chips increased performance. Mine was installed when I bought the 840 so no $$$ :)

That makes sense to me now. I guess no chip for moi!

That is weird because my 7 has the 3 way switch and it is an American built car.
