I usually do not sell parts that I make, but I want some goodies for my M3, and my buddy that I made this for moved away and bought a VW (and regrets it to this day), so I decided to sell this……
When I was planning the conversion on my ’98 M3, I looked at several of the kits that are sold. The less expensive kit that allows you to use the M50 manifold only has one drawback – it gets rid of the beautiful oil separating system used on the S52 engines. Have you ever looked at the back of the valves of an engine with a normal PCV valve system? They always have carbon on them. When I pulled the intake manifold off of my car, the valves looked perfect (see pic). The more expensive kit retains the factory PCV cyclone/oil separator. One good thing about being an electrical and mechanical engineer with access (I run it) to a state of the art CNC machine shop is that I can make almost anything. So, after looking at the available kits on the market, I decided to make my own adapter that allowed me to use the factory PCV cyclone/oil separator. I was about to put this on ebay, but I will try here first.
THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE KIT, AND DOES NOT COME WITH THE MANIFOLD. IT ONLY COMES WITH THE ALUMINUM ADAPTER AND THE PLUG TO SEAL THE STOCK AIR TEMP SENDING UNIT HOLE. To do the conversion you need a manifold and the following: The intake throttle body seal, fuel rail brackets, and the rubber elbow that allows for remote location of the air temp sensor. (I purchased mine from www.m50manifold.com (http://www.m50manifold.com/) and pelican parts). Yes, I could have made these parts, but I was not planning on selling these parts that I made (nor am I planning to make any more, they were time-consuming). If you already have the inexpensive hose-kit conversion, then you already have all the parts needed, and this piece is the perfect part.

How about $190 plus shipping ($15?). Guaranteed, and if you do not like it send it back for a full refund. I have had mine on my M3 for about a year now, no problems. I will include a couple of extra O-rings if you decide to take it apart. The piece is CNC manufactured from 6061 aluminum, the O-rings are all Viton. I can take paypal or check, and I will ship when clears.

Thanks, George

Question was posed: did you experience any problems with the adapter leaking? (it looks very similar to the eurosport kit, which has leaked under boost for some)

Answer: The part that goes into the manifold (there is an approx 28 mm hole) took me several tries, I made it a TIGHT fit. I am familiar with turbocharging carbuerated cars, so I think it would be ok. One thing I could do is cut back the front of the aluminum in front of the O-Ring. That way the pressure will help push the O-ring against the wall to help the seal.

heh that would be me with the question. Do you have the answers to the others? Still very interested...

Clayman- I replied directly to your hotmail account, but since you did not get it I will post my complete reply here.

-did you experience any problems with the adapter leaking? (it looks very similar to the eurosport kit, which has leaked under boost for some) -do you have any instructions (or links to instructions) for installation?

Good question. The part that goes into the manifold (there is an approx 28 mm hole) took me several tries, I made it a TIGHT fit. I am familiar with turbocharging carbuerated cars, so I think it would be ok. One thing I could do is cut back the front of the aluminum in front of the O-Ring. That way the pressure will help push the O-ring against the wall to help the seal.

Now the kicker- with 10lbs of boost, the plug that goes into the manifold will experience approx 10 lbs of force pushing it out, with a torque of about 15 in-lbs. Two o-rings spaced at least 3/8" apart will counteract the tendency for this to pivot out. I will put an extra O-ring at no charge if you want.

-how much did the extra parts (TB seal, fuel rail brackets) cost from m50manifold.com?

I think it was $75 shipped, but I also had purchased the modified fuel rail cover to make it look nice.

-do the crankcase vent valve, ICV, and dipstick all mount in the original positions with your adapter? m50manifold.com also sells brackets for these.

Everything mounted like stock. The dipstick took a little coaxing, but did work. If you use the hose conversion kit you don't have the stock locations to mount parts.

-are you sure no extra parts are required other than the ones you listed? (bolts, hoses, Y-adapters?) eurosport's kit also comes a metal throttle body plate and a heatshrink extension for the breather tube to the cyclone valve, will I need these? I do remember having to modify the plate that goes underneath the manifold, but I think it was a hacksaw and file job, no big deal.

I do not see what the throttle plate is for, I used the TB seal from manifold.com. The only other part is a plug for the m50 manifold where its air temp sensor mounts. I went up to pepboys and got an oil drain plug that fit. (someone posted that in their install write up)

NOTE: The intall of the manifold is somewhat tricky. Just swapping 2 identical manifold is a pain. I assume that you have the mechanical skills to do this. If you do a search on google for “M50 manifold install” you will find a bunch of different write ups.

Here is a pic of the bracket after modification. The bottom has been modified so that it clears, it was evident what needed to be removed (and an easy hacksaw job)

If I wasn't already set on a kit from Eric, I'd be interested. Bump for you.

You could make some money off it if you still have all the files and made a few of them. But I'm sure you already know that.

Thanks guys, I sold both I had. Currently I don't plan on making any more....
