your source for all thats 740 related.
Changing the spark plugs, air filter, oxygen sensors, accessory serpentine belt, changing the coolant, filling the wiper fluid tank and checking and replacing the brake pads. These are all good stuff to check and replace on your 740
If you are a more hard core DIYer you can consider changing the valley pan gasket and OSV valve.

+1
Also check with your dealer - don't buy from there but check with them and see what kinds of prices they offer on parts, sometimes parts are cheaper there than in other stores so it helps to always give them a call and check how much parts cost. Good luck

If there is any oil in the spark plug valleys, hit the valve cover gaskets too.

Hey Greek... Welcome To BimmerForums for a Fella New Yorka! :cool
Where abouts in the state are you? I'm about 20 miles from Albany if ya take the long way (which, of course, I do). There are increasingly more and more of us (NYers) here and I've been toying with the idea of a get together here in Upstate for this Summer (ANYONE who wants to come is more than welcome!)... a BBQ or something!
I just finished a Tune-Up myself.. minus the oil (which is fresh) and brake pads (inspected and good). You can skip the Valley Pan too if it isn't leaking. A Good Recommendation... but no sense in breaking the seal if it's still intact!
Which plugs did you go with? I am trying a set of Bosch Yttrium; Dual Electrode Plugs and, so far, am very happy! How were the plugs you removed... any burnt worse than others? Any oil on the plugs (indicative of a leaking valve cover gasket)?
I also threw in a K&N Air Filter which I would STRONGLY recommend.... given the fact that it's free(r) flowing and is a Lifetime Filter (just wash, oil up, and re-use!). Costs a little bit more... but 'pays' for itself anytime you wash and re-use it...!
I would also recommend picking up (if you don't already have one) a Bentley Manual for your car. Autohaus Arizona has them for about $87.. a good price compaired to most.. and it will tell you just about EVERYTHING you need to know if something should arrise!
Good Luck with the ride and, again, Welcome To BimmerForums!
