But is the placement of the spring the same?

The placement is the same. My suspension setup is H&R Springs (1.3" and .5" drop) and Eiback Sport Shocks. Everthing is in factory locations. There is no rubbing. I'm married w/ 2 children and have had 5 adults on more than 1 occasion in my car with this tire/wheel/susp setup and no rubbing or any other issue

Looks REALLY good. What offset do you have? or are you using spacers?

I believe is ET20, I have to verify that though. And no, no spacers... YET:evil2

I plan to add spacers to widen the stance a little...

16 inch rims from a 1999 750iL with 225/55/16 95V Goodyear ResponsEdges currently but I will switch to my dad's 18 inch split 5 spokes with 245/40/18 97Y Goodyear Eagle F1s when I get the V12 running again.

I have had good luck with Goodyears so I am a fan and OEM rims doen't bend.;)

The problem with that is there would be such a small sidewall that any decent sized hole will bend a rim. Also the biggest I have seen is a 245 width in the front without rubbing so good luck.:shifty

I wouldn't recommend it. I have 18s on mine and it does ok, but the suspension is not "beefy" enough to deal w/ the weight of the car and the added stress that a 20" wheel will put on it. Not a smart or good looking choice on an e32 IMO. Are you on a stock suspension setup

Personally, I would use Bilstein front shocks with Bav Auto lowering springs for the front and keep the rear the same but lower it an inch because I just want an inch drop. Also the self-leveling rear suspension helps alot espically with a rear strut bar to the point that there should be almost no body roll. Any more than an inch drop and you get into problems with trying to get the camber, caster, and toe right; which will wear parts FAST!

I guess (of course) its personal preference. I opted to use the BavAuto LAD Elimination kit and do away w/ the self-leveling. My system went bad and the parts to replace are horrendous (around $2-3000) I went with the H&R Springs (1.3"fr & .3"r) and Bilstein Sport shocks. I love the stance. The ride is stiffer but comfortable and handles like a dream, as well as my e30 325is stock suspension.

I would say to go this route because the e32 is a minimum of 14 years old and things go bad. I can still carry as many people and as much luggage as I want w/o any bottoming out

Heavy Duty of course, these are very heavy cars that beat the front tires and brakes to death quick.

I just want a inch drop so the gap in the front wheel wells goes away and a little sportyness for the rare track day. Also I am a up and coming tech so I only pay what the parts cost because labor is free.;)

But I do understand that these cars are expensive to fix so if I were in your shoes I would have probably done what you did and it seems that the prices on 850i manual transmissions are coming down so I am counting the days, on a more random topic!:D
