hey guys, i'm going to put a turbo 13b rotary into my 85 323i e30. I know exactly what i'm up for and what needs to be done. Why a rotary? well... why not! :buttrockthey're light and i can get one very easily and it's going to be cheaper than turbocharging my m20, plus it has the ability to make lots more power easier. Just wondering if anyone on here has done, or knows of anyone who has done this conversion. cheers, any info appreciated. i will post up a comprehensive thread on the conversion when i commence it in the near future. thanks,Tom.

The only place I've heard of this done IS Australia, you guys put rotaries in everything down there. I could listen to a bridge port idle all day long, just type in RX2 in youtube and enjoy. I just don't like the fact that the engine is lucky to last 100K with those damn apex seals always failing but it would be a cool swap though...

Sweet! My Dad moved in the early 70's from the 2002 to the Mazda Rx2 cause he dug the Rotary! :D

I owned one in the early 80's, lowered, Racing Beat Alum Tunnel Ram with a Holley 4 barrel double pumper, CDI ignition, and headers. Was great fun car and used to beat up all the Yuppie 320i's of the day and the crappy Vettes and Camero's too back then! LOL!

The seals can last a very long time when you use the correct type for the application and are very easy and cheap to rebuild too. Because they are unbreakable, they are the fastest growing Homebuilt Aircraft Engine....

In fact you might want to think about dropping a 20B in there, I bet it would fit no problem....3 Rotors of goodness! Pretty sure you can can get them in Aus too....I remember a dude down there years ago that would sell them to us up here for Aircraft.....

Yeah the 20B is IMO is one of the sweetest sounding motors out there, very similar to a VR6 VW at high RPM.

yeah i love the 20b also but parts and the engine themselves are harder to come by. 13b is easier and cheaper + they make a lot of power very easily. I should have the conversion under way shortly and i will definitely be keeping everyone here in form!

Every second car in New Zealand has a rotary in it. Mostly old Toyota DXs, Mazda 323s and the like, as well as the hordes of RX7's here. Youtube 'fursty' to see one of the most mental sounding rotarys ever, a Periferal Port triple rotor drift car. I know of 2 e30's with rotarys, 1 a 12a with a gilmore drive (noisey) and one with the 13bt, it flys!
Heaps of crazy pieced together cars here, we're a dumping ground for japan's overflow of cars.

yeah gotta love new zealand and no domestic market! Import central! rotary's are fairly prominent in aus as well, they're in every second datsun, 323's etc.
