I wish to put in a piggyback system on my M52, mostlikely the Dastek Unichip. However i heard that the motronic system on our car is very smart and it tends to do adjustments on the fly making the piggyback useless. Is this true? or maybe you would like to shine some light on me?
TIA

I don't know anything about Dastek, but Unichip is something i've used on my S/C Tacoma V6 and I saw this recently in person installed on a 540

What is this high speed piggy back action you speak of?

piggyback is a term for a type of engine management controller gumbi. It comes from the way it is wired to the car.

I'd think that the DME and the would be fighting. The DME in these cars is adaptive and will trim fuel mixture and timing based on observed data (engine temp, knock sensors, pre-cat O2 sensors). The A/F map is not simply based on mass flow and rpm.
Unless there are serious engine mods, I don't see why you'd want to run a piggy back. And in the case of mods that seriously increase mass flow through the engine custom programming or a stand alone make more sense to me.

the reason i wanted to put in the piggyback is simply because i wanted to get a better (more linear) curve all around the powerband. Im not expecting to gain much power out of it. Also to get a much better a/f mixture.
Whatd do you mean by custom programming? custom chip you mean?
The Unichip is just so tempting at around US$450, i like the idea of being able to tune it around everytime i add a new thing to the motor, unlike a chip where we are pretty much stuck with the chip setting.
However if the DME is able to adapt like you and some people has told me, then i dont think its worth it to go this route.
